Pam, you have done a wonderful job on a very difficult block!! Thanks for the starch tip, too--you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.

thanks everyone... and I need to quit procrastinating about putting it on the background.

My "block" on that is that I have not seriously sat down and figured out how I'm going to cut it. The pattern calls for piecing it the entire size of the finished quilt and I would rather have one piece lengthwise across the pillow area instead of a seam up the middle of it. I'm also not going to use the pieced border but just do all white and applique a border.

I'll get it figured out this week since I have the material washed and starched and ready to cut..

Pam, you have done all this, and more, and what you described as "a block"...I am so amazed. You quilt circles around me, lol. I love applique, can't wait to see it. :D

I hate piecing backs and the background is basically the same as that. That's why I've been putting it off. I have a 4' metal straight edge and a big metal square that I use but I still just hate it. I don't know of a better way to do it.

I guess I look for perfection and there's just no way I can do that.

I bit the bullet and pieced the background. It took hours, at least it seemed like it. I went ahead and pieced it in two pieces. After major pinning around the edge I moved it to the guest bed, drew up a chair, and started the applique. I'm about 1/4 done around the circle. If I work on it during the week I should be ready to come up with the final floral and vine applique by the weekend.

Then starts the real time consuming work!

I finally got a picture that shows the shimmering "pearl" of the fabric.

Pam - you need not worry, that IS perfection!
