daughter's healing block

1 Attachment(s)
My daughter lost her grandpa this year, to help her with her grieving process we decided to make a quilt with blocks that remind her of her grandpa. He loved coffee and anything sweet. We still have several blocks to add, hopefully we'll get it done soon.

Great blocks! I lost my Grandpa that I adored at about the same age. It was my first experience with sorrow and it took me a long time to recover. (((Hugs)))

First of all your daughter is adorable such a lovely smile. I'm just thinking how wonderful to be collaborating with your daughter to make such a significant quilt that not only will remind her how important her Grandfather was and is to her, in addition this is something that you and she are creating together, to me that is priceless!

My Daddy said "that the mug had to be big enough to put your nose into it". If not, the coffee was not worth drinking ! Beautiful daughter and experience together making this quilt. Hugs

This brought back memories of my grandfather passing. He died 3 days before I graduated from high school. We were very close. I think losing him bothered me more than anyone else in my life. I think what you are doing with your sweet daughter is a wonderful idea. God bless you both.

neece 09-26-2013 06:20 AM

My Dad died unexpectly this spring. I was a total wreck. He had lived with me for 15 years and was in Florida visiting. I wandered around for a few days and went to console myself with my quilts. I have a top my Grandma (Dads Mom) made and decided to work on it. I had been doing laundry and just hung up all his flannel shirts. I cut all the flannel shirts into quilt and am in the process of using them to back the quilt. Some days it makes me cry and other days it helps to have him here.

mjhaess 09-26-2013 06:27 AM
