I made this quilt from the pinwheel project challenge blocks. It's twin sized, the blocks are 6", 60 pinwheels and 60 sixteen patch. I scrapped the borders together with leftover fabrics and bits of leftover blocks. I quilted it on my Janome 6500. This quilt has been on my to do list for quite some time, I first saw it on Bonnie Hunters site. Thanks to the pinwheel project challenge, I've moved it to my finished list.
I named it A Day At The Beach because it reminds me of the colorful beach towels, umbrellas, snowy white sand and blue sky and water that I enjoyed when we lived in Florida.
I really had fun making this quilt, I think I'll keep it for myself.
Thanks for looking.

Love your pinwheel quilt. I like the way the alternating 16 patch blocks gives an illusion of being set on point! Very nicely done!!

Your quilt is lovely. The colors are vibrant
and your name for it is perfect. A UFO with a lot
of work has changed category for the best.
Great quilting!

Great scrappy quilt. It is on my to do list.
Love the way you quilted it with the waves and pebbles in the boarder.
If I remember correctly, you posted an asterisk quilt recently that was very pretty.
You certainly have the knack of piecing with scraps.

dhanke 04-15-2011 11:21 AM

You're right, I did make the asterisk quilt, your memory is much better than mine. I'm also making a really scrappy modiifed bento box quilt right now, if you look at that post be sure to put your sunglasses on first, it's a wild one!

Geta 04-15-2011 11:37 AM

Absolutely gorgeous! Great pattern, thanks for sharing!

dhanke 04-15-2011 11:38 AM

I really liked that about this pattern too, that's why it went on my to do list. Plus, it looks like it's on point but without the need for setting triangles.

OUTSTANDING!!! It is now on my "want to do" list. No matter how simple the blocks, there is just something about a scrappy quilt and yours is certainly right up there. Great job of piecing and quilting.
