Well, I took all the advice I had gotten on my previous post about which borders to use, and came up with this combination. Lots said to NOT use yellow, since it wasn't in the quilt, but I needed to stop the blocks from fading into the borders, so I have a 1 inch border of yellow. Then, instead of the white, which I realized was too stark, I used the light lavendar, and the dark floral to finish off the borders, which was suggested by many. Just have to bat, quilt and bind it, and another Christmas quilt done, and only 2 left to go. I started this year trying to get 6 done, and I think I am going to make it.
My granddaughter was here last week, and when I showed this quilt to her, she said, "Oh, that is a Janel quilt" I asked her why, and she said it is because Janel, my daughter, to whom this quilt is going, is a Vikings fan. Yes, I know, but I don't really follow football, but she always has. So, without really having a reason that I chose these colors for Janel, it worked out just so perfect. The quilt measures out at 60x72 This pattern by Eleanor Burns is really easier to do than it looks. I would not hesitate to do it again. Just for those that wonder how hard it was. I love the sunshine, this is one pretty quilt!

That is fascinating pattern and the yellow is a perfect touch. Beautiful piecing work.

I think it's perfect. I agree ... you needed a color to frame or 'stop' the pattern. Could have chosen any color, I personally like the choice of yellow.
Well done! |

Very nice piecing. Your points are great. I love the quilt and I think yellow or any color batik would work. Beautiful job.
|
The yellow works! Great way to seperate the quilt from the borders, I often use black the same way.

Beautiful work. I think the yellow gives it a great deal of "pop" and interest. Love it.

I think the yellow frames it up very nicely!

I just saw her do that on tv, and it did look do-able, but still scares me. Would like a go at it in a class though. Lol

breath-taking! thanks for sharing. :)

Very pretty! I love the way you used the yellow and the light lavender in the quilt. To me that is what experience teaches you. I am a beginner and I don't think I would have known to do that.
