thought you ladies would like to see my top going together. i was a late starter. sandpat's choc jane just made me want to do one. signed up when you ladies started, but started babysitting, so didn't start till sandpat posted her pictures. i have decided to quilt my top after it is put together. and haven't even decided how i will do that. you have to be mighty carefull when putting vertical strips between your rows, if you are adding the one inch square at each intersection. good, but not perfect.

Very nice! I love it!
oooh!!!
Looking good so far!
you are much further ahead than me! well done it looks fab.
I want to do one of these so badly. =) Great progress!
Looks oh so hard. Congratulations.
great job!
It's just beautiful! Wonderful job!
It's lovely. You're way ahead of me. I only have a few blocks done and some to rip apart.
It will be beautiful when you finish it.
that is pretty - I had a friend introduce me to the Dear Jane quilt - I am contemplating starting one....hmmmm....
yes, it was way over my head. but i am retired. i did all the blocks in 60 days. at about 4 a day. i was sooooo afraid it would take me 2 yrs, like some of the ladies said. i was under the weather, and really couldn't do much, but i could sit and sew, so i did. the software and 'that quilt' web site made it real easy. should have gone to 'that quilt' everytime, before i made any blocks. but didn't. i had never done a curved seam. just barely had done any aplique. like 3 kiddy blankets. did not know what reverse applique was. learned about using elmer's glue on pts. just decided to take it one block at a time.
ohhh, and i got on line and just ordered, ordered, ordered, civil war fabric. didn't spend time shopping and looking for material. easiest ever..... |
13 blocks by 13 blocks. 4.5 in blocks,
l.---botton R 2. R top 3. L top 4. L bottom |
Good job.
oh wow, that looks great, can't wait to see it completed!
i so admire you ladies that have the strength to tackle such a project--& stick with it...WOW, i'm in awe of all that work! you should be beaming!!!
Sew, it looks fabulous!!! I'm still in awe of your speed in doing all the blocks and getting it put together. You are amaizng! I'll be adding this thread to the Jane Topic, so it will pop up on that list for you.
thx sandpat. couldn't have done it without the tut's you guided me towards.
sat and looked tonite and tweeked some blocks. needed to do that. E-13 will get worked on. K-1 had a 1/2 sq that i had missed. fixed it. H-2 was put in sideways, fixed it, and then it was upside down!!! will fix that tomor. And it just dawned on me. a dab of elmer's clue would prob get those 1 inc squares right where i want them each time. right sandpat? yours looked to be near perfect. how did you do that? i pinned, pinned, and then basted, before i sewed,.... so far. |
looking good! are you going to put the triangle boarder on?
That looks amazing Sew! You did a great and fast job!
WOW!
Just beautiful
Have a Blessed day Ellen |
yes the tri's are all made. and squared.
and you ladies that are afraid to tackle this. don't be. if you can paper piece, and hand sew, you can do this. one square at at time. |
Oh very pretty. I got sidetracked by life before I finished mine but hope to get back on it soon. Just like a few blocks. JO
how big are the squares? and are they all paper pieced and hand sewn? do I understand each square is different? so for a queen how many would you need? Just finished the Farmer's Wife one, so need a new project
blocks are 4.5 finished,13 to the row, 13 rows, 169 blocks. plus triangles all around the quilt. each block is different. It is great fun but very intensive.
WOW alot of work but boy it paid off, love it
It is amazing! It seems like quite the commitment!
Awesome work! And wow your quick!! I am glad you shared, I just love this quilt, could not take it on but love looking at them. I seen one listed the other day on Ebay for 5000.00, I figured it is worth it. If I had that much LOL
Qbird. a lot of ladies increased the size to 6". that would make a queen, i do believe. maybe someone else will tell us. i think the software has the directions. i did not learn all the ends and outs of the software. i had sandpat....:) 'thatquilt.com' was the place to look for help. and the software had tips also. you could pick the method you felt comfortable with. some really talented ladies acutally pieced the pieces instead of applique.
my colors will be better on the next pictures. a new camera is on my shopping list. |
sewNso you rock! I got side tracked with other projects and have lost my way but....... you inspire me to start again. Your blocks look perfect to me. can't wait for the finishing photos.
How wonderful. I really must get mine finish and put together. Its been a WOP for several years. I love your color theme. It is really nice and you can really enjoy the blocks.
Be sure to post as soon as you finish. We want to see the whole thing. |
Just started a blue Dear Jane as a BOM. I'm still really intimidated by it - but figure month at a time might make it less troublesome. Love yours.
Looks nice.
You are doing an awesome job on this quilt :D:D:D
It is a thought, especially if I could do 6 # blocks, need some hand work to do, I machine pieced the Farmer's Wife quilt (on another thread here) but maybe would not be a Dear Jane if not the original size, the Farmer's wife was 111 6 1/2 differents blocks, for a queen, would just be another Farmer's Wife? all these dilememas lololo anyway congrats on getting your's done especially in 60 days
O dear lord give me patience, PLEASE. Someday.......
What a project. You have my admiration for even trying it.
I'm not sure that any in our group cyber sew enlarged the blocks, but it is certainly possible to do it with the software. You can just choose your block size in the software. Lacelady did enlarge hers by making her sashing larger. That effected the placement of the tris, but worked well and she ended up with a queen size.
Really any quilt you make using the Dear Jane block designs would be considered a "Baby Jane" (the original quilt by Jane Stickle being the Mother quilt). Brenda has lots of different layouts even in her book. |
