Detail work on a Landscape

Finally found the time and energy for the five days of micro quilting required to make this piece show ready. The piece was entirely small raw applique, not fused, but glued so it needed the covering of white tulle to finish.

That is breathtaking!

Jane Quilter 04-10-2018 03:26 PM

what a masterpiece! Tell us about the tree trunk. How did you achieve the lighting? It looks like a combination of fabric choices, thread coloring, and fabric painting. Please share. Lighting is the hardest technique to master, for me, in artwork. You seem to have achieved perfection. Congrats!

Judith1005 04-10-2018 03:26 PM

Gorgeous, it is really a beautiful show piece that you keep coming back to, to drink in more details.

The tree trunk is black fabric with light grey patches or small blobs accenting one side towards the bottoms of the trunk only. The whole was over laid with white netting and then stitched with black. Thanks for the praise!

Amazing! Thanks for the close up pictures. I wondered if you changed thread colors and now I see that you did! You are very gifted with your choice of fabric colors to make the scenery so realistic.

It is stunning...and love all the detail. You certainly have an eye and are very talented with FMQ. Someone posted something of the like...your work is of an artist. I so want to try a landscape project, in fact it is on my list of goals for 2018.

This is so pretty. Do you use patterns or just naturally talented?
