pretty little quilt... I'm curious how long ago the pattern was written... it seems to me that we have learned so many short cuts and faster, shorter ways of quilting than when I first quilted in Home Economics 30 years ago. :p

Just as there are math whizes on this board there and some who are math challenged there are artisans who create patterns that have these characteristics. When these diverse ideas are presented to us we 'understand' differently. So, some follow the pattern carefully and others see 'a better way'. I am amazed at the results of the use of precuts to make difficult patterns. The latest one I have seen is Jenny Doan making Hunter's Star with precuts!

It's possible that the original pattern used a scrappier approach, which would have required using individual squares.

It's all in the way the mind thinks, you did a terrific job. I seldom go straight by a pattern. I always look at what they are trying to accomplish and do it the way I think best. Great quilt.
