DH bought me a new toy today :)

http://www.singerco.com/products/154...idence-quilter

I had a Brother that crapped out on me and was not worth fixing. Have been sewing on an old Atlas which I wasn't even sure how to thread proper.

So far, today, I love this machine. Thanks DH. Sure, it's not a Bernina, nor are we wealthy...I can dream!

peaceandjoy 07-06-2012 04:18 PM

What a great DH! Looks like a really nice machine, and has very good reviews. How did he know what kind of machine you'd like? Honestly, I don't think mine would begin to know where to start as far as features, etc.

Congratulations and enjoy!

MaryStoaks 07-06-2012 04:21 PM

Congratulations! Nice machine and a very nice hubby!

Grandma Peg 07-06-2012 04:23 PM

What a nice gift. Have fun with your new machine.

Diane007 07-06-2012 04:27 PM

mighty 07-06-2012 04:46 PM

Congrats, enjoy!!!!!!!!

tucsonquilter 07-06-2012 04:49 PM

It really doesnt matter what machine you use as long as you are happy with it and everytime you sit down to sew you have a silly grin on!

Nanaquilts44 07-06-2012 04:50 PM

Looks like a fun machine! Have a good time!

Thanks. Not like that. I asked him to buy me a new machine and he gave me a $500.00 budget. This was $399.00, bobbins 5 bucks, total around $425.00.

Grinning I am! I also read the reviews (after the fact). Many gave a thumbs down regarding the free motion foot/function. I had to try it. True, instructions vague in the manual; however, I already knew how to use it and it works very nicely. I can't say a lot for the operator without practice :)

Work space, new baby, and project WIP. I made a new design wall today. Bought a twin-sized sheet from Wal-mart and attached it to two rollers that I got for free today at Hancock Fabrics.

Forgot to attach image. Sorry, comes from my camera; charging "real" camera battery.

I have this machine going on 2 years now, love it. It's been begged, pleaded with, cursed at, and praised, and she just keeps chuggin away. It came with lots of extra sewing feet and stuff, which I already had anyway, but hey, who couldn't use an extra quilting foot, right? Congrats, enjoy your new toy!

Jingle 07-07-2012 03:23 AM

It looks great, name isn't important, how you like it is. Enjoy and thanks to your DH for being so supportive.

Kitsapquilter 07-07-2012 05:02 AM

What a dear hubby you have!! That machine looks like it will do plenty of fun things. I know you will enjoy making quilts on it!!

weatheread 07-07-2012 05:08 AM

any husband that gets you a machine is a keeper

AUQuilter 07-07-2012 07:57 AM

Looks like a terrific machine! I am not a machine snob for sure. IMHO, I would rather see you put that machine to work stitching than have the highest end machine just sitting idle. And your DH is a definite keeper.

Lorraine Simon 07-07-2012 08:12 AM

He's a keeper...
Love it and him.

jillnjo 07-07-2012 08:13 AM

I think you are ready to go on a quilting roll!! Enjoy the new machine!

Helen S 07-07-2012 03:22 PM

Awww...he's so special! You're going to have a ball with it and it will be such fun learning all the new stitches! No, not a Bernina, but so what...it's yours and you'll have it singing your song in no time at all. Enjoy!

momto5 07-07-2012 04:19 PM

Enjoy! I have one who lives at my house too....now, if I could just get her trained to load the dishwasher....

watson's mom 07-07-2012 06:17 PM

Very nice machine, lucky you !!! Thank you for sharing with everyone.

Amythyst02 07-08-2012 03:09 AM

So happy for you, enjoy your new baby...

alfosa421 07-08-2012 03:14 AM

I have this machine and use it daily-haven't really done a whole lot of free motion but I use many of the stitches-the only thing I noticed is that you have to check your stitch settings evry time you turn it on but it may be just my machine cause I was keeping my pins in a magnet dish next to it for awhile when I started noticing this problem. I don't want an expensive machine cause it comes with expensive repairs when it breaks-my annual cleaning and service runs about 50$ Enjoy it- it's a great work horse

Suzan88 07-08-2012 03:20 AM

It looks good to me and the reviews are mostly very positive. What a very pleasant DH you must have.

Deb C 07-08-2012 03:33 AM

Congrats on the new machine! Your husband must know that a happy wife leads to a happy life...lol. I have several machines I use on a regular basis and the one that has taken the most abuse and never given me any trouble in 15-20 years is a $300 Babylock that lives in a travel bag, goes to classes and overnighters with friends, and has been my back up machine when the expensive one has been in the shop.

GiGi 07-08-2012 04:02 AM

Who really cares what you sew on just as long as you can do what you love to do with it is all that matters! Bernina....what is that? Wealthy.....what is that? So enjoy! Tks. G

fred singer 07-08-2012 04:04 AM

glad that you like you new machine.

Evy 07-08-2012 04:16 AM

I've also had one for a few years. I have 3 machines, none fancy, but that one is by far my favorite. Enjoy.

katsewnsew 07-08-2012 04:30 AM

Congrats on your new baby! Enjoy it and be good to it, it will be good to you.

Steady Stiching 07-08-2012 04:31 AM

Thats a lovely machine! My mom has one and she just loves it.

#1piecemaker 07-08-2012 04:43 AM

How nice!!! You don't have to have money to be rich. Sounds like your DH is worth more than money can buy. Congratulations on your new machine.

sewmorethings 07-08-2012 05:23 AM

That is the machine i have and i too love it, had a little problem with the feed dogs but she is running quite smooth now......i have only had singer machines and would like a bernina too but being on fixed income i will use my little singer......i know you will love it, Lets win the lottery and we can both get new Berninas........

Noiseynana 07-08-2012 06:35 AM

I've had a Brother for years. Love it , until a friend from Canada saw I was having trouble . It started goin nuts on me , or was that me??? hhhmmmmm Anyway she sent me her old Singer featherweight and I fell in love . Now this is not the black one everyone wants , it was made in the '90's . I really don't care for computerized machines cause I can't fix'em. So price does matter to me . I 'd rather have an older machine than one I can't fix at a reasonable cost. Good luck with your new machine. Whats her name???

PhotoKevin 07-08-2012 06:43 AM

I love mine! As long as you take care of it, it will take care of you! Congrats!

margie77072 07-08-2012 07:58 AM
