Love the fabrics. Got a laugh, though, when I misread the number with a comma! 1,694 yds. of blue will make a lot of quilts!

Valerie Scherr 08-25-2010 12:19 PM

Quilt in a day has lot of great patterns...check out Eleanors site she has free videos of some of here patterns.

madamekelly 08-25-2010 01:38 PM

What ever you make out of this fabric, it is going to be great. Wonderful colors. Applause! Applause!

Sidmona said: " You did great choosing the fabrics but be careful - quilting is very addictive."

Boy, you got that right! But its a good addiction. :)

Friendly Quilter 08-25-2010 02:30 PM

Great choice of colors. Keep us posted on your project.

xenodeno 08-25-2010 02:34 PM

Very pretty colors. I especially like the first 2 fabrics. Good luck, I bet you'll love quilting.

Alondra 08-25-2010 03:19 PM

Great colors! Now hurry and finish it so we can all enjoy it! :)

Excellent choices of fabrics and welcome to our corner of the world where opinions and suggestions are abundant! I will be waiting for a post of what you make.

Another link for patterns, from this board.

Also you can try a basic 9 patch and put it in the top as a bigger 9 patch. I saw a pattern in one of my quilting magazines and it makes an easy Irish chain. You use a 9 patch and another fabric(solid, or toille, something close to the color of the 9 patch one) and do it in a larger 9 patch and it's lovely.

CountryStitching 08-25-2010 05:33 PM

I love the fabrics, and you did a great job matching colors!

IBQUILTIN 08-25-2010 05:42 PM

katcincinnati 08-25-2010 07:45 PM

I really like the fabrics you picked out. They all go together very well.

rainbowquilt 08-25-2010 08:15 PM

Looks like you are on your way to being an addicted quilter! The fabric is beautiful!

Cheshirecatquilter 08-25-2010 08:25 PM

You have a good eye for color. Rail fence would look great in your color choices, and then you have the option to quilt in the ditch, which is simple, or get fancy if you feel brave. Have fun getting addicted.

quilting Carol 08-25-2010 08:26 PM

You go girl it looks great...

zz-pd 08-25-2010 09:56 PM

Just couldn't wait to get something so I could try my hand at this quilting thing. lol
I figured I'd start out with a simple block, any suggestions?

Try a Turning Twenty......easy and would look great with these fabrics...

purplefiend 08-26-2010 01:51 PM

You also need a dark in there, it will help balance the quilt.
you have very light and 2 mediums. I do like the fabrics that you've chosen. Also you could put in another size of print to add interest.

Jingle 08-26-2010 02:17 PM

I like your fabric choices. It will be pretty.

CindyinNY 08-26-2010 05:27 PM

purplefiend I don't get what you mean by "you have very light and 2 mediums". I have four fabrics, one light and two mediums with a dark. I consider the blue a dark.

just_the_scraps_m'am 08-26-2010 05:33 PM

you did GREAT; that fabric looks playful--i see pinwheels in your future.........

franie 08-26-2010 05:33 PM

Cindy from what I can see in your photo, it looks like the 2 lights are the same value & the other 2 fabrics look like the same value also.
The quilt tops pictured are showing how fabrics work together depending on whether the fabric is light, medium or dark.

moonwolf47 08-26-2010 08:02 PM

Love the colors you chose. I think you have a great eye for what goes together.

purplefiend 08-26-2010 09:21 PM

Thank you moonwolf. I love making scrap quilts. The 2 batik tops were kits made from salesman's samples, the pattern is from "Layer 'em' up" by Sharyn Craig

CindyinNY 08-26-2010 09:28 PM

I'm confused. Is this a reply to my post or to purplefiend's quilts.

"Love the colors you chose. I think you have a great eye for what goes together."
Sorry but being a newbie, it will take me time to understand all this quilt knowledge.

kristen0112 08-26-2010 09:52 PM

I love the Corn flower material. There was a whole line that went with it. I bought each of the fabrics, ran out went back and most of them were gone :-( I bought what I could still buy.

Caroltee 08-26-2010 10:05 PM

Oooooooooooo UR hooked now girl. Welcome to the club. I think what ever U do it’s going to be very pretty Love UR choice of colors. I do agree that another very dark color will really set the rest of your choice off

How about Warm Wishes with the focus fabric (white background print) as the whole square and the three other fabrics as the stripe block.

 Oops! I'm bad about sending a reply before reading all of the posts. I see that someone else had the same idea.
