I love the polka dot border. A narrow black border, then a polka dot or the floral fabric might look really good.

Ducky 08-26-2010 07:00 PM

I like the look of a black, narrow focus border. I think it would frame it beautifully. I love that quilt top!

tcnmom 08-26-2010 08:15 PM

I would use a small black border and then a larger polka dot border. It's a beautiful quilt.

annieshane 08-26-2010 08:18 PM

That is exactly what I was thinking, thin dark inner border and dot outer border. The black so brings out the designs in the prints. Please post when you are finished. It is classy quilt.

Ditto!!

I think I would use a narrow black, then the dot, then bind back in black. Your quilt is really neat. I usually don't like dots, but this is wonderful use of them, may have to invest in some dots. thanks for sharing.

kmendoza 08-27-2010 04:20 AM

I agree

iqlt2 08-27-2010 04:40 AM

i would use a narrow black border to frame it then the wider one floral or dots whatever you like
but a narrow border would set it off

For some reason the colors look "yucky" when photographed, but in "real life" they are beautiful golden browns and blacks all with glitter.
Now, I have put 2 options for the borders:
one with poka dots
one with black
Once again, I would like your opinions and on Monday I can finish it up.
Thanks again for previous and future help. I just love this group.

I was taught to use a narrow dark border (say 1.5-2 inches) to stop the activity from a busy pattern, like this one, then add a wider outside border; so I agree with using both fabrics; a narrow dark border, then a wider 4-5 inch polka-dot border

I think this would look better too. Although the black just seems a little too dark. How about a cranberry color?

Fabaddict 08-27-2010 04:52 AM

the black is tooo black, a narrow border like 1/2 to 1 inch wide with either the polka dot or the floral would look best, I think.

the darker one gives it a nice frame....

Bobbielinks 08-27-2010 05:07 AM

Please, use the black.

Jordan 08-27-2010 05:18 AM

I think a narrow black border and then a wider polka dot border would look nice. The quilt is very nice.

A narrow black border, then the polka dots has my vote too.

mommom 08-27-2010 05:32 AM

It looks great! I like the black border but think I would make it a 'zinger' then use the polka dot with black for the binding.

Jeannie 08-27-2010 05:42 AM

i love that idea

Julianna 08-27-2010 05:44 AM

If you have more of the floral use it for a narrow border, then black. If not a narrow border of dots then wider black.

Ruthanne 08-27-2010 05:46 AM

I think black...

foxxigrani 08-27-2010 06:06 AM

I agree black and then if you want the polka dots, use them. But the black makes the quilt pop. Otherwise it just sits there and blends.

nena 08-27-2010 06:06 AM

Love the dots.

LiveToQuilt 08-27-2010 06:10 AM

I agree with Lady Tapioca and Eddie --- a narrow black with polka dots on the outside border.

scoobertina 08-27-2010 06:11 AM

I like the black!

dixiechunk 08-27-2010 06:13 AM

I would do a narrow black border and a wide polka dot border.

Retired Quilter 08-27-2010 06:30 AM

Maybe try a narrow black border. Then the wider dot border with black binding.

nanac 08-27-2010 06:58 AM

Why not one row of each border?

cmathena 08-27-2010 07:13 AM

black

Do you have more of the dark fabric from you top? Else I like the narrow black border.

Definitely the black. It makes the browns pop.

Kellie G 08-27-2010 07:36 AM

I like the black, makes the quilt pop....Beautiful quilt.

amandasgramma 08-27-2010 07:38 AM

I LOVE it! I agree with others, narrow black with polka dot brown on outer edge. Will be a standout!

Great suggestion - the dark inner border would give the eyes a place to rest and frame the quilt, then add the 4-5" polka dot or paisley. Lovely quilt!!

PATTIE8990 08-27-2010 07:54 AM

I like the dots! Very nice work.

skavanau 08-27-2010 08:38 AM

I like the black border, it makes the quilt pop.
