You ladies all helped me out greatly - decided to go with no sashing and I am pleased with it.
For some reason the colors look "yucky" when photographed, but in "real life" they are beautiful golden browns and blacks all with glitter. Now, I have put 2 options for the borders: one with poka dots one with black Once again, I would like your opinions and on Monday I can finish it up. Thanks again for previous and future help. I just love this group. Karen 2 types of borders |
I like the black border.

could you use a narrow black border then the polka dots?
I'm not sure. The black looks blueish on my computer, but I know I don't care for the dots.

I love the floral fabric you have on your quilt, got any more of that? Just an idea

Black makes it pop. It looks like an elegant picture frame. My personal opinion gives good contrast and weighs the quilt. I am all for dark borders.
VEry good job |
Definitely the black.
I sure like that without the sashing. I hope you go for the black border. Such a pretty quilt. I am looking forward to you post when it is all finished.
Definitely a dark border
I like the black border.
personally, i like the darker border for two reasons, it makes the center pop, and dirt doesn't show as much
Darker border for sure.
Dark!!! Very nice quilt- great job :D
I'd like a thinner black inner border and then a wider polka dot outer border.
I think you need to take that black fabric outside for a true look at it, make sure it's actually black.
It's a beautiful quilt. I would take that lightest color that you have and do a narrow border with it, then another border with one of the dark prints and make it twice the width of the light border, then bind in black. |
I agree with most that the black just really does set it off.
narrow black and then the floral again if you have it. if not, the black is great.

Or ... how about a dark brown -- isn't that a color in the quilt. If so, I would like to see maybe a black narrow 1" inner border with a 3" dark brown, maybe mottled. But I feel (my humble opinion) that the polka dot border detracts from the quilt. Or if I am color blind and there is no brown, ignore me! :-P
And P.S. looks great with no sashing between the blocks. |

Polka dot border with black binding.
I like it best with polka dots. Picture #1.
I like the black.
Definitely the black! :-D
Black....there is enough of the polka dot in there already, imho. Though more of the floral might be nice. :)
dots, dots, dots & the border width rule of thumb is: should be no wider than pcs in blocks...{if sqs are 3", then border shouldn't be more than 3" finished} just seems to balance out...but then there are NO quilt police! so whatever makes YOU happy...

I really like the idea of using the narrow black with the dots on the outside. I think it needs the black to pop the other colors. BTW its beautiful
For some reason, I cannot get a hold on the black because it looks blue. I have to agree with Eddie, black inner border, polka dot outer.

Black border.
I think the solid black border looks harsh.

Black if you want just one; or black thin with polka dot wide outside.
I do like the polka dots, maybe a small black inner border , like a frame then the polka dots!
