Disappearing 4 patch

4 Attachment(s)
I want to sash the disappering 4 patch, but the color is what I am having a problem with - black, white, cream, navy or green???

The scappy colors are red, green yellow and blue as you can see in some of the blocks in the photo. Okay, you great and awesome quilters - any ideas?

Diane007 08-25-2012 12:55 PM

sorry I am not 100 % understanding your question.

oma66 08-25-2012 01:02 PM

My question is - what color should I use for the sashing? Any ideas?

alfosa421 08-25-2012 01:14 PM

Do you have any of block number 2's blue in a different shade? Otherwise maybe black. Good luck in your decision

quiltinglady2 08-25-2012 01:21 PM

Kona black!

Kttyhwk4 08-25-2012 01:28 PM

Either the navy you've used in your blocks or black. Dark colors used for sashing always seem to make the blocks really pop.

debcavan 08-25-2012 01:34 PM

No idea for the sashing. That is a beautiful block

pinkcastle 08-25-2012 01:37 PM

I think navy would look good.

DebbE 08-25-2012 01:53 PM

I'd definitely do black to make your blocks stand out. White would be too bland, and any other color will 'fight' the colors of your blocks. Can't wait to see the finished quilt!

msquiltalot 08-25-2012 02:01 PM

Navy or black.

Cookie46 08-25-2012 02:07 PM

Black. Good job on the blocks. Love them!

lfstamper 08-25-2012 02:09 PM

Black or white. Interview both to see which u like best.

Elfi2 08-25-2012 02:17 PM

I would go for black, it seems to enhance the other colours in the blocks. Good luck!!! Looking forward to see the finished quilt :)

Diane007 08-25-2012 02:18 PM

Sorry yes...
Black or navy

could you add a picture with a few blocks laying on black fabric and a few with navy....
that would be helpful

MaryMo 08-25-2012 02:26 PM

I also vote for either navy or black .... any other color would compete with the blocks. Your quilt blocks are beautiful.

kathdavis 08-25-2012 02:42 PM

Black or Navy would go great.

BSKTLOFR-QUILTER 08-25-2012 02:52 PM

How about a pale yellow? That might work. Maybe when you audition the sashing you'll come up with the right color automatically.

Tweety2911 08-25-2012 03:10 PM

Depends on whether you are looking for a soft look in which case I would use a light color, if a dramatic look I would use a navy or dark green. Your blocks are beautiful!! I look forward to seeing what you decide to do.

Grandma Peg 08-25-2012 03:16 PM

Guess I'm different but think cream would be nice.

mucky 08-25-2012 06:07 PM

You need to audition several colors. Lay them beside it, walk away, come back and start removing the ones you don't like.

Jingle 08-25-2012 06:12 PM

Black sashes would work. Pretty blocks.

Friendly Quilter 08-25-2012 06:20 PM

How about a navy or dark Blue, most of yur blocks so far have blue in them. It will give them a sharp look. If you use a brown it will make it look antique. I love scrap quilts.

Billie G 08-25-2012 06:28 PM

Why not sew all of the colors together & make a patchwork binding???? Just try & not put like colors w/ like colors.

Does that make any sense??

Oh poop--I just re read your post- forget I even said anything. LOL.

4EVERquilt 08-25-2012 08:16 PM

OOOOH! your blocks are awesome.

QUILTNMO 08-26-2012 01:35 AM

i would do black

I definitely agree! I would suggest you audition the blocks with the different sashing and then decide what grabs you. It always amazes me what you think might look great isn't always what you like best when you audition it. Good luck, can't wait to see what you chose.

katsewnsew 08-26-2012 03:16 AM

I agree, do some auditioning, See what works for you.

sinceresissy 08-26-2012 05:02 AM

I vote navy.

DoriDeS 08-26-2012 05:59 AM

yup I'm with everyone else black or navy love the blocks :o)

Zephyr 08-26-2012 06:16 AM

Nice blocks. Do you have enough scraps to do a piano key border?

My thoughts exactly, I always lay my blocks on the sashing to see what I like best.

Sylvie45 08-26-2012 07:05 AM

I would use purple or navy.

Vat 08-27-2012 03:43 AM

I would use the darkest black I could find.

rush88888 08-27-2012 03:46 AM

it seems like we always opt for black. how about making the sashing as scrappy as the square you have shown us.

gollytwo 08-27-2012 03:52 AM

black at the width of the rectangles

Blinkokr 08-27-2012 04:00 AM

Black or Navy, great job and thank you for sharing.
Have a Blessed day
Ellen

justflyingin 08-27-2012 04:19 AM

Something bold to tie it all together., At least it seems to work for me. I'd probably go with black like some suggested.

haylillan 08-27-2012 04:27 AM

I say black or brown

Shirlrh 08-27-2012 04:31 AM

I agree with navy or black. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

johanna2le 08-27-2012 04:41 AM

I am for some kind of dark Blue too.
