A very cool fabric, but yes, since you asked, I think it's a bit much. Try something that reads more solid. Very lovely quilt!!

I'd trim it down quite a bit then add a wider dark border (black?) to match the points on the stars in the sashing.

I am so happy that your daughter loved it! You did a very nice job on it, and it will be treasured, I'm sure!

I believe it's too heavy-taking away from the amazing stars and their individual sparkle...maybe something lighter?

Maybe it's just us TN girls but I like it with this border too. My eyes kept going back to the stars also. I love it the way it is.

Stars are my favorite, love your blocks. The block colors are wonderful and all go together beautifully. The border does seem to overwhelm the blocks, they are too pretty to be distracted from, but I would lay it over the bed and see how it looks with the end and sides hanging over, it may be less distracting.

It makes a definite color statement, and it does pick up a few of the blues in the star blocks. I agree with a few others, however, that 'revisiting' it later, then deciding how you feel / what you want to do is a good idea.

I also agree that a solid border would allow the focus to be on the beautiful blocks you've made...perhaps a mid-value gray that's between the color of the star points and the sashing color.

It's a beautiful quilt that would be perfect in a light blue or gray room as it is. But I do think it would be awesome with another border, either replacing the blue floral or adding to it.

Thanks for sharing. The blocks are totally impressive.

I agree with other comments; particularly the one about trimming the outer border. Try trimming to 2 in. which would finish at 1-1/2 and then audition one of the lighter blues in the stars and use that as the final border. Audition this final border at 3 in., finishing at 2-1/2 in., which would add symmetry to your borders. Beautiful job on the stars - never an easy job especially when taking care none of the points are chopped off! Thanks for sharing.

I'm with you Becky - I like it too.

I LIKE it, I think it sets off the stars and tends to make a nice frame for them. I do like the previous comment about trimming it down to a narrow border if you still think it's too much. Good luck on your beautiful quilt top.
