I don't do threads but when I shave down my Saint Bernard There's enough hair for a couple of years by the looks of it. But I hang it all out and although it looks like a cow exploded, it all gets used.

Glad you mentioned that. I raise birds and lost a Macaw to a rope toy sold at a bird specialty shop. He chewed it and unravelled it till it got wrapped around his neck and he hung himself. Sad story but true. So everyone that gives left over thread
to the birds, please cut it in 1 - 1.5 inch peices.

Glad you explained. Looked like a dead, cut-up fish in a bag - had fish on the brain. Was having fish for dinner tonight - not so sure now.

Thanks for the idea! :)

You're thinking! I know birds use the long hair ponies shed in spring.

I usually drape them over a bush. They disappear, but I've never seen a bird take one so not sure if the birds take them or the wind just blows them away.

Great idea. We put strings and dog har outside.

I also put out my dog's hair and it is fun to see "Golden" nests..

No I haven't but my sister-in-law did that all the time......... it was like a runway with the birds flying in and out to get the string........ Thanks for sharing.... hope others will do this.

I use to save them for my feathered friends, but my sister spins wool to sell and she uses it for special orders.....very pretty!!!! :)

yep...I empty my thread catcher onto the cutting board, give a couple slice & dice to make the bits smaller, then roll in the dog hair from that bag I keep and in the spring, it gets hung out in the back...and YES, the birds DO take it....
