I don't have one and can't say that I know what it is used for. Do you use it while hand quilting?
I have one I got on ebay, Joanns also sells them, you can get 40 percent off if you time it right! I haven't used mine yet but am positive I will like it cause I do not have room for a traditional frame or a longarm frame.
My handquilting (See my avatar) has been done using a plain large embroidery hoop--not even a quilting hoop.
I have one....usually every winter I make a hand quilting project.....set the quilt frame up in the family room and quilt to my hearts desire....it's a pretty good frame but unnecessary unless you plan on as long-term hand quilting career.
Yes, I have one...using it now to hand quilt a wall quilt for my grandson...
My church uses these frames to tie quilts, not hand quilt them. They are light weight, easy to take up a down and just the right size for limited space.
You do not use them on a sewing machine. Hope this information is helpful. |
nope, don't have one at all. No desire for one, I use a larger quilting hoop for hand quilting.
I also use a large hoop for hand quilting ... suppose it is just a matter of comfort.
No, I don't have one but I do have a longarm and do more for everyone else than mine P.S. but I get paid for it!!!
No, I don't hand quilt!
so these are manily for hand quilting . and not for sewing machine quilting ? I can pick this up for 50.00 but wasnt sure if i needed this or not when i start quilting . Thank you all for ur help . i hope more comes back to me as i go I was lil when i helped grandma / moons a go /

Looks like a quick snap frame to me. A twist on traditional quilting frames. Used for hand quilting, and if thats what you do, could be usefull. Takes up less space than some hand quilting frames.
thats a very nice quilt I cant hardly wait to get started

Some handquilters like frames like these. It is not a particular favorite of mine. I like a frame this particular PVC design isn't one of them.
I have one, and DO NOT LIKE IT! The top PVC pipe doesn't hold down the quilt - it is constantly popping off and the tension of the quilt is gone. It becomes such a frustration!
With that said... I have used it and used those plastic "wire ties" to hold the top PVC pipe down when I am trying to hand quilt a smaller quilt than the frame. It does take up quite a bit of room, about 2'x4', so if you don't have the room consider using a hoop. I finally have become so frustrated with this product that I have it in my yardsale pile for next spring! |
I do not have one!!!!!
no have a long arm no hand quilting here anymore
Nope!
I have one and I LOVE it! It also doubles nicely as a cat bed!

I have had one for awhile. I used it when I first started out to put the quilts on to tie (that's all I knew how to do). When I started machine quilting, I put it back in it's box. Now about the only time I use it is to make a tent when my grandson comes to visit. I'll be using it again after the Christmas holidays to tie a larger quilt for my dad, which will be too big to manage with my machine, I think.

My sister helped me make one of these. It cost me around $15 with stuff from home depot. The hardest part was using a scroll saw to cut about a third off one of the pvc pieces for the clamps. Otherwise easy peasy! I use that non slip shelf liner in small pieces inside the clamp to keep the tension tight. LOVE IT!

I purchased the exact frame not too long ago because I was finding that my body mechanics were really suffering as I was trying to hand quilt my first queen size quilt. It was just not comfortable for me to use a large quilting hoop frame in my lap with so much fabric. Now I can sit with a good supportive chair and angle the frame to the right height for me. I also like this because it's easy to move from room to room and it's easy to take a part for travel.
I chose this one also because I didn't know how much I will be hand quilting in the future (after this quilt is done...though it's going to take a really long time so I'll definitely will get my money's worth!) and this was much cheaper than so many others that I looked at. Hobby Lobby also carries these and I used a 40% off coupon for it. |
I have had this for years and I use it for tying some quilts. I love the lightness and portability.
To specifically answer your question, no, it is NOT a table. It's a frame for holding the layered top/batting/backing sandwich in order to baste it, to hand tie it, or to handquilt it.
You have to make the quilt top first before using one of these. As noted by other replies, there are many ways of accomplishing what this frame would do. $50 seems to be no real bargain to me. Jan in VA |
I have one just like that. I got it at joann's at 50% off for $50. I have hand quilted 2 quilts with it.
I don't have that floor frame but I do have it in the hand frame. It was the first frame I purchased 12 years ago. My floor frame is the old fashioned wood and screws kind, that was given to me and that I wish I had room in my home to set up. I am asking for a "square" hand hoop and floor hoop w/light for Christmas.
I have one , its still in the box but fully intend to use it. Got it at Joann's 50 % off. Had an Ulmer quilting frame and sold it to one of my friends. I didn't care for it that much.
I have one as well, haven't used it yet, but picked it up at a flea market for 5.00.
I have a large quilting hoop as well.. there are times I wish I had a stand.. but I am happy without..
Never seen one of these before, does it have the tubing all the way around the top to hold the quilt??
Looks like it would be quite useful for hand quilting, might be worth looking into..hmmm |
It is used for hand quilting and seems like a good thing if you hand quilt a lot, I do not typically hand quilt and the few times I have I use a hoop. It is pretty large so you need room for it.
I have one of those frames that I use for tying quilts like others have said. I'm not able to get on the floor to work on quilts anymore so this frame helps. Blessings Kathryn
It's hand quilting frame; I have one and liked it when I used it, I don't have alot of floor space in my home, so to leave something even that size 'up' something else has to be moved..... I hand quilt without a hoop now,. I'm keeping mine, because I won't always live in a 'cozy' house.
Besides being a quilting frame, as someone else said, it makes a great frame for hanging blankets to make a tent/house for the kids to play in/under.
My son appropriated mine to make a box lined with fabric for some of his photography projects. I did use one similar to it (before they made the tiltable version) and liked it - but not enough to leave it up. |
NO - i fortunately have a very large glass table in the dinning room - seats 8 people and i use that.
The quilt still needs to be sandwiched and pinned or basted before being put on this thing.
