I started this a couple of weeks ago asking advice. Most of you said to just keep going and as that was the easiest, that's what I did! This is a scrappy throw for my nephew who lives in Georgia. I will send it to him when his mom goes to visit later this year. I used leftover blocks to make the back large enough.

The front

The back - looks "lumpy" but isn't. Maybe I need to press it!

I am confused too--not anything like my D9P blocks/quilts! Different technique, or ????????

I REALLY like it, but how do you DO it????

This is the All Shook Up version that nance-ell did a tutorial on a month or so ago. It still starts with the basic 9-patch but get cut and put together differently. nance-ell did a nice job of explaining so you may want to check out her tutorial.

Thanks I will!!
Isn't it wonderful how we all learn new things here all the time!

It looks really nice. I love the colors.

cjomomma 04-11-2011 02:18 PM

It's georgious. It reminds me of broken glass that picks up the reflections of all the colors around it. Great quilt.

sueisallaboutquilts 04-11-2011 02:54 PM

I just looked up the tutorial and now I want to do one! I did a D9P that I love but I like this twist on it! :)

jljack 04-11-2011 03:55 PM

Did you do another round of cutting the D9P blocks? I don't see the pattern. Can you tell us how you did this? Thaks!!

nstitchs 04-11-2011 03:56 PM

nice! I like the way that turned out.

Yooper32 04-12-2011 04:11 AM

Dubib, thanks for being brave. I was sitting here wondering if my eyes had finally failed for sure. I looked and looked and couldn't see the "usual" D9P. It is a very nice blue scrappy and so different.

Cris 04-12-2011 04:19 AM

Excellent job blue is my fave!

Homespun 04-12-2011 04:26 AM

Love it - now I know what I will do with some "orphan" 9 patches I have in the stash!

#1piecemaker 04-12-2011 05:41 AM

He ought to like that one. It almost hurts my eyes, its so pretty. If he don't like it, check his temperature.

dyer804 04-12-2011 08:02 AM

Thanks for all of the kind comments! Check out nance-ell's tutorial if you are still confused about the "all shook up" part. It went together quickly and I'm looking forward to seeing your version as soon as you finish it.

roadrunr 04-12-2011 11:40 AM

He'll just love it!

indycatcarol 04-12-2011 11:49 AM
