6 Attachment(s)
Here is a Double Irish Chain that I made for my sister. She'll get it this summer. It's approx 50x65ish, hand quilted and wool batting.
First project w/ wool batting and can't wait to use it again!! :D Close up of the prints The annoyed cat-SweetPea :D |
Very nice. Your quilting is beautiful.

very pretty quilt
|
A beautiful quilt.
|
Very nice quilt. Beautiful hand quilting. Love the Celtic border. I am using wool to hand quilt and I love it too.
|
Beautiful quilt. I love the quilting and basket-weave pattern on the back.
|
Beautiful quilt and stunning quilting. No matter how intricate and stunning machine quilting gets to be there is nothing that beats the appearance of hand quilting. I have used silk batting and it was great to work with. I have a wool batt on hand and plan to use it in my next project. It seems to be so loved by other quilters.

Its beautiful I love the background fabric. You did a super job on the quilting , a true work of love. I hope she understands all the work you put into it. Glad to know that you liked the wool batting

Very pretty. The background fabric looks so elegant. I'm in awe of your hand quilting talent.

Thanks for the comments. I do agree - there is something special/different about a hand quilted quilt.
I do know that my sister will appreciate this. Now my brother, my mom, and my sister all have quilts that I have made. The nephews wouldn't appreciate something now, so they'll have to wait their turn. The background fabric was left over from another quilt and i had made about 5 yrs ago. It was actually a pistol to get things to blend w/ it and it took awhile. Part of me is sorry to be out of the fabric, but the goal was to use up stuff in my stash - and it did do that. :D |

OOOH the black is superb! The quilting is over the top. Tell me about the wool batting. It is too warm? How does it wash? I have some, I am scared to use it.....

Can't answer about warmth. Personally, if i want something warm, I will start out w/ a flannel backing. My mom does say the Warm and Natural is warm - and can be heavy. It washed great - I used a cold wash/cold rinse and a delicate cycle - on the shortest amount of time. I just want to remove dust and cat hair. I wash all my quilts, even w/ cotton batting in the same manner. I use a mild detergent - Dreft that is left over from when i fostered and had a teenage girl w/ a baby. The packaging said the wool batting should be laid flat to dry, so i did not put it in the dryer. The shrinkage/crinkly effect is probably from the cotton fabric shrinking up. I used Quilters Dream and there is never much shrinkage, even w/ their cotton batting. My quilts w/ cotton batting go thru the dryer and w/ medium heat. My brother's quilt had cotton batting because he'll never remember to lay a quilt to dryer - he'd rather throw it the dryer :D |
beautiful quilt like the colors
