Beautiful Job! I relate to the challenges you faced.Part of the challenges of piecing a double wedding ring are the curves and sometimes patterns are duplicated on a duplicating machine that can distort the shapes. I wish I had my mothers pattern--the finish top lay as flat as a tabletop! She copied her pattern by putting the original under a piece of paper and taping it to the dining room window!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! When I first start quilting a top, sometimes I think that my quilting is terrible and I'm going to have to rip it out. This was one of them - I wasn't satisfied I was going to like it until I had finished a couple of passes. I worked on this for just over a week (I have a full-time regular job). It actually went fairly fast because I only had to make reference lines for the feathers in the big blocks. Everything else was freehand and I didn't need to use any rulers.

I have a Voyager 17 machine. I purchased it in March of this year, and I feel like I've found a lost love. :-)

OK? WOW! is all I can say. You did a fantastic job. Your quilting is outstanding and the finished quilt a heirloom for sure. It's not about the magnifying glass, it's about what went into it. Love it.

Beautiful--I, too, had to save one of these. It had puckering too. It was made in the 1960's. I was told this pattern was called Squashed Wedding Ring as the circles are not really round.

I've wondered about the circles - I've seen some that are much rounder and some just like this one. I didn't know they had a different name. "Squashed" brings to mind some crazy word associations - like an old couple (the older you get the more squashed everything becomes) or like "I want to squash these rings". :-)
