Downton Abbey Teatime Mat

1 Attachment(s)
I love Downton Abbey so much that I decided to make a Teatime Mat for myself. Now I can sit and enjoy a cup of Tea and daydream about next season!

Wyldwytch 02-19-2013 03:19 PM

Sew and Sew 02-19-2013 03:59 PM

I retired this year, and was not ever able to watch this show.........my husband bragged about it......so I watched season 1 and 2 in less than a week.......ha......and I was hooked.........I knew it was going to end this season sadly........and I did not want Matthew or Sybil to be the ones to go.......well I love your mat..........good job.

Plumtree 02-19-2013 04:00 PM

You did a great job!!! I love Downton Abbey

i really could not believe what my eyes were seeing!!!!

gigi712 02-19-2013 04:25 PM

Nice mat, Damsel. I was more angry than anything else. Of all people, Matthew?????? He's one of the reasons I watched the show. Should be interesting how they bale themselves out of this one to make it worth watching.

Little RoO 02-19-2013 04:31 PM

I also really enjoy Downton Abbey.....and am lucky that often on my travels I have to pass Highclare castle where it is filmed.....it is a lovely looking building and just visible from the road........sadly no really good patchwork shops close by that I know of though.......but love the mug rug.

Beuhla 02-19-2013 04:49 PM

Have not seen the show but I love your tea mat.

Dolphyngyrl 02-19-2013 05:47 PM

And here I thought I was downton abbey's biggest fan

JuneBillie 02-19-2013 05:49 PM

Krystyna 02-19-2013 05:55 PM

That is hilarious! I'm sure you will enjoy every last cuppa!

Thank you SmickChick! I was also shocked, but expected some major twist for the last one of the season! It is so nice to chat with other people who love it too!

Thanks Gale, I kept thinking that they made him out to be dead and were going to bring him back, but Sybil and Matthew did not sign the new 3 year contract, so they were killed off!

Damsel in DisDress 02-19-2013 06:15 PM

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments!

QUILTNMO 02-19-2013 06:37 PM

very neat idea!!!!

maverick 02-19-2013 06:41 PM

Love it. Tell us how you did it, please!!!!

They asked Dan (Matthew) to do special appearances to keep the story (marriage) going, he refused. He was an unknown until Downton .... maybe the stardom has gone to his head. I'm so disappointed he won't return. Almost wish they had just put another actor in his place and moved on with the story. Looking forward to Season 4.

Ladyjanedoe 02-19-2013 06:50 PM

Love Downton!!
So many great characters. As long as the Dowager Countess is still there I will be watching . She steals the show.

Ladyjanedoe 02-19-2013 06:52 PM

Oh..and your mat is fabulous!!

oksewglad 02-19-2013 07:05 PM

Here I was expecting some fancy linen and lace--nice surprise.
Oh and my prediction is that Tom will totally take over estate management with Matthew's vision and get hooked up with Rose. Yes I was disappointed with the ending. Hope Mary does not get too bitter. Oh I guess I'm addicted to DA too.

heather1949 02-19-2013 07:08 PM

How cute is that, I love that show as well.

nativetexan 02-19-2013 07:32 PM

nabobw 02-20-2013 05:50 AM

Love downton abbey but sure hate the fact they have killed Mathew off

northern lass 02-20-2013 06:20 AM

Great piece of work. It's a very popular programme here.

chairjogger 02-20-2013 06:43 AM

Sewcrazy12 02-20-2013 07:10 AM

I'm with you, I love Downton Abby. My favorite! How about that ending??? Can't wait for next season. Love your quilt. You did good.

gabeway 02-20-2013 08:05 AM

Great job!

gigi712 02-20-2013 10:48 AM

Ok, I feel better now knowing that Matthew opted out of the show. *sigh*

Teddybear Lady 02-20-2013 11:12 AM

I watched my first episode the other night. Loved it! Your mug rug is perfect.

Too late! Guess there should have been a "spoiler alert" on the title of this thread. I'm still in mourning, though I knew when they had little love fest in the hospital - "Oh, I'm so in love with you, and so happy" - that something awful was going to happen. Really gonna miss Matthew. No, I hope they don't pair Branson and Rose. She's a little trollop in my opinion. But it is a possibility I guess. Great mat - I love your stairs! Did you print a picture on fabric for it? I really miss the show between seasons, but looking forward to "Call the Midwife" next month.

I cannot imagine how cool it would be to pass by a castle of any description in the course of my ordinary life, let alone this beauty. I love the show, I love the mug rug, and I hate that this family has so many tragedies. (Curse you, Julian Fellows!) They are like the British 1920's version of the Kennedys. Hope everyone saw Maggie Smith on 60 Minutes last Sunday night. She is remarkable.

kathbug 02-21-2013 04:06 AM

I just started watching the last couple of months and love it. Watch it on my iPad we don't have TV or cable. I am hooked but hated the ending of Matthew dying when does the new season start in the fall?

Just started watching this one before Christmas glad to hear it is starting back up next month I really like this one also!

Don't you hate the way this season ended? I sure did. I love the show and anything else having to do with Great Britain. I'm a real Anglophile and want nothing more than to go there some day. But I better hurry since I'm already 66.
