Holey Moley!! Two days ago I signed up for the free quilts for kids program that Downy is sponsoring and received my kit today!! It is all precut, pattern for a 4 patch squares cut, borders, backing and binding and a label to attach! How cool is that!

Let's all post pics of our fabric here and then our progress. Sound good? I can't wait to get started, was reading the directions and I do have to cut a little bit but not much and the strips are already cut. I just need to get batting for it.

imjustme 10-23-2009 08:33 AM

This is cool. Thanks for the info. I just signed up.

granny216 10-23-2009 08:49 AM

What do you click on once you get into the site. I see nothing about Kits.

granny216 10-23-2009 08:54 AM

Whoops, I found it and signed up. Don't know how I missed it the first 3 times!

Deb watkins 10-23-2009 09:14 AM

I have done a quilt for the kids - mailed it two weeks ago. Everything comes pre cut, the colors are bright and the pattern is included. All I had to supply was the batting and mail it back!

Oklahoma Suzie 10-23-2009 09:28 AM

I wish I could do one, but I don't machine quilt.

Lostn51 10-23-2009 10:05 AM

I am getting my kit in a few days, I love that they are doing it for the kids and it makes them so happy.

I wonder how many they will let you do?

Yes they say that on the directions for the quilt 38x46 and has to be machine sewn and quilted.

zennia 10-23-2009 01:04 PM

Oh, I like the colors of the fabric. I signed up a few days ago to. Now that I have seen what we get I am real excited. I am also making one from my stash. It would be cool if everyone here would make one.

justme 10-23-2009 01:32 PM

I was just reading about this in a quilt magazine.. and I signed up too!

watterstide 10-23-2009 02:26 PM

they really would like for you to send them one of your own back with the one you make for them.
i got mine the other day..and it is going to be so cute! quick and easy pattern..you can use up alot of scraps with the 4 patch! (stashbusting) i have some cute pink fabric with fairys on it..that would work up cute..

Sheila Elaine 10-23-2009 02:33 PM

Thanks for the site. I also signed up.

Overlander 10-23-2009 02:47 PM

I went to volunteer to do one and after reading the information was sad. They won't ship out of USA so I can't do one. It's a great idea. Wonder if there is a Canadian link ???

Olivia's Grammy 10-23-2009 03:02 PM

I just signed up. I'll also make a second one to send.

Somebunny 10-23-2009 03:19 PM

Just signed up also. What a fantastic program and outlet for us. I have 3 baby quilts in progress, and didn't know who to give them to, now I do! Thanks Up North!

watterstide 10-23-2009 03:21 PM

this is a great project for people on a limited budget, but still want to sew and for charity too?..a win win!

earthwalker 10-23-2009 03:23 PM

Good concept...would love to see your quilts when they're done. I'm in Aus, so will have to give this one a miss...happy quilting.

littlehud 10-23-2009 05:53 PM

I just signed up. I'm going to try to send two back, the one they send me and one from my stash. Twice the helping.

MelissaK 10-24-2009 04:34 PM

Thanks for the link! I just signed up too.

I know that those outside of the US would like to help out... you could always make your own and send it, rather than just receiving the kit. If you are able to out of your stash, I know they would appreciate it.

labbielover 10-24-2009 04:54 PM

Thanks so much for the info. I just signed up! Will bust my stash too.

sunrise450 10-24-2009 08:01 PM

I tried to sign up, planning to make a quilt from their kit and one from my stash. For some reason when I hit the request button, it wouldn't take my request, said something like I wasn't qualified. ???
I emailed them, guess I will wait till at least Monday to see why they think I am not qualifed.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Just signed up for my kit. Thanks for the post.

earthwalker 10-24-2009 09:36 PM

That looks absolutely great....looks like they are going to get some terrific quilts.

dizzy 10-24-2009 09:50 PM

you could do one for your childrens hospital also an send it to them.
I might just do that since they don't have chapter here in my state an
take mine to Little Rock when I go in the spring unless my son has to go before that.By then I could have a bunch of them made.An as Omak said
I do for sure need to bust some of my stash an I agree with her.

JANW 10-24-2009 11:07 PM

I'm in and can add one of my own

Bevanger 10-25-2009 04:01 AM
