Dresden quilt
1 Attachment(s)
I typically attempt to make a second quilt to donate using leftovers from first quilt. This was made using the leftovers from my Happy Birds quilt and will be donated to Hospice... It kind of evolved as I sewed until I ran out of leftovers/scraps..lol...I have enough left to do a scrappy binding...

Thank you for donating this quilt to hospice. When my mother was there in October, she always had a hand crafted quilt on her bed. It made the environment inviting and comfortable. Especially since she made many quilts and grew up under the quilting table during "bees" at her grandmother's house.

Very beautiful! I just love dresdens.

Beautiful charity quilt...I like the Irish Chain look with your Dresden blocks. Was there a particular pattern for it? It will surely give someone comfort.

Very beautiful. When it's done, it will have a very homey, traditional feel to it.:o

I really like the combination of Dresdens and Irish Chain - very creative with a beautiful result!

Teen, that is so sweet. Would you mind sharing how big are the blades for the dresden's? Thanks for sharing.
|
What a thoughtful and generous way of thinking, Teen. And the quilt is charming. Someone is going to really appreciate it.

Love this. It's so beautiful.

Teen, nice save on the scraps.
I have been working on some UFO's and was working on an old(2003) BOM from a LQS and was stomped after I connected the blocks with an Irish chain block and the size was still small (for me) and I couldn't figure out anything else to do to make it larger so back to the UFO pile it went. Then you posted this cute dresden plate(I also have some plates from back in the early 2000's that need to be finished)sigh! I decided to use your idea to add another border by adding the half chain blocks. Thank you, Teen, you have moved my plan to finish some UFO's before I start another project, along. Now my problem is the blocks are 12 inches and that gives me a large area of white fabric going around each corner, ( the colors are what I call neutrals, white, beige, tan, etc.) so I am trying to think of some way to add a cornerstone to each corner so there isn't so much white on the outer edge. Again, thanks, this might make it to the 'tops' pile this week! |
