Sandykady, I'm a new quilter. Where can I find the pattern for your second dresden plate. I appreciate your help.

Both of your quilts are beautiful, but I'm partial to the white one. I love the red print centers.

I used the Dresden ruler for both, I just didn't make the points for the second one. Depending on the size you want. Sew strips of black and whatever color you choose together and using the Dresden ruler cut the pieces needed. I used the same black as the background in between the colored to blend in. I hope I made sense. If you have the Dresden ruler you can do it. It is very easy to do. I turned 1/4" around the outside and sewed them to the black blocks.

Wow...both are gorgeous but how is the black one done?

The only difference is as a regular Dresden you would use one color per plate, I used two colors and did not add the points. I alternated the black plates with the colored plates .After sewing them all together I turned the raw edges under and sewed them down onto the black block.

great quilts. I really am partial to the traditional one. I have one haunting me to get finished. so hate getting started. did it yearsssss ago, when we had t turn under the edges. now here sit the blocks, and I either have to glue them down, iron them down, or sew something on the back side. ohhhh decisions.

I would love to see it when it is finished.

I love the black one - it looks almost 3D. Are those sewn down to the background ? They look like they're floating.

Yes they are sewn to the background, I used the same black in the plate as the background to blend in.
