This is what i am working on now. Trying to finish it so i can start working on my Disappearing Nine Patch.I will just have to have 4 WIP going.

I am trying to get those curves in order, it's a devil  getting it straight and keep from stretching it.

That floral fabric is gorgeous! Looks really nice with the solid. Hope you work out the curves.

Marcia 08-02-2008 03:24 PM

I love your fabric choice and do not envy you all those curves!!! Better you than me! :D

mgshaw 08-02-2008 03:29 PM

Love your fabric.. Great job on those curves!!

nor'easter 08-02-2008 04:27 PM

Lookin' good, Jerrie! You're doing just fine. I, too, love your choice of fabrics! You have a good eye for color.

Lots of pins (every half inch or so), keeping the "L' shape on top (to control the fullness), and sewing slowly are some of the things I do to make curves easier. Mark the midpoint and quarter point of each curve by finger creasing, match those points up and pin them first. Then pin between them as necessary. Keep turning the piece counterclockwise (to your left) as you sew the curved seam. It gets faster and easier in no time at all...honest! :D My first quilt was a strip pieced Drunkard's Path so all the straight edges were on the bias in addition to the curves. Talk about stretching!!

KellyPA 08-02-2008 04:56 PM

Beautiful!

gcathie 08-02-2008 06:40 PM

Oh my I love your colors!!!!!!!!!! They showed how to do this today on America Sews......They made it look easy...sure huh....I haven't had the nerve to try something like that...

They put the L on the bottom...no pins....make sure when you start to have the edge straight....they held the top piece up and worked it around the curve as they sewed....took tweezers at the end and waalaa...square up as needed.... Like I said they made it sound easy...gonna have to try before I forget........

ddrobins1956 08-03-2008 08:07 AM

Nice job Jerrie. I have a Drunkard's Path planned for a fall project. I've never sewn curves before, so I could use some advice. Keep posting and I'll keep watch. :)

retrogirl02 08-03-2008 06:27 PM

Jerrie,
You are oh so talented...I haven't tried the drunkard's path yet because it looks scary to do those curves. I'm just now getting around to triangles LOL!! I love your colors and the circle in the center. Awesome.

Celeste 08-03-2008 06:46 PM

Very pretty!

kd124 08-03-2008 08:01 PM

Jerrie--love your fabric. I am working on a drunkard's path myself.

ddrobins1956--
I prefer using the Kaye Wood method. She puts her finger between the two layers. My sister also bought her template. We found her method works best with her template which is slightly different from the one my sis bought at Joanne's. We tried the one from the store first

Jerrie 08-03-2008 11:48 PM

Thank you very much. Post a pic of what you ding so we can see what color are you doing yours in

CindyBee 08-04-2008 01:13 AM

Jerrie, I love the block and also your fabric. Looks like you can conquer the curve!

kathy 08-04-2008 05:34 AM

Cathie, I don't get that program but it sounds like they were usuing the "curvemaster" foot, I've only used mine on two blocks, on the first one I nearly threw that 40$ foot out the window! I hate wasting money so a couple of months later I tried it again, it was almost as easy as they showed on Sewing with Nancy. it's a strange looking thing but I want to make a drunkards path quilt and didn't want to spend 1/2 the time pinning, I think I'll be glad I did.

kathy 08-04-2008 05:34 AM

Jerrie, I just love that paisley fabric!!!

Chele 08-04-2008 05:36 AM

Love it Jerrie! That's one of my favorite block patterns!

all4quilt 08-04-2008 05:37 AM

beachlady 08-04-2008 05:38 AM

So nice Jerrie. Love the material. Think that might be one block I will never try!!! Don't like being frustrated!
