My son lives in NYC and has no room for a regular tree so I made him this one from a a free pattern online. He loved it and it took about three hours

oh that is perfect! My Mother made one very similar years ago and she had buttons on the tree. At the bottom there were pockets. Each day you would reach into a pocket to find an ornament (a fancy button with a gold string) to hang on the buttons already on the tree. On Christmas Eve, you would hang the last button - It was like an Advent calendar but instead a Christmas tree :) I'll have to find a picture to share!

oh that is adorable. my friend made a quilt for her dtr like one i did yrs ago but she did the holly leaves differently and the berrys were done in sequins.
love your "decorations" on the tree!!

That is lovely, you could even attach some bows, stars or other decorations to the tree as well.

That is awesome! I saw it online and actually have it saved in my computer. I wanted to make it and even had the fabric laid out but of course with Christmas, other things came up. But I will get it done for Christmas 2011 {maybe}. LOL
