Elephant Abstractions Quilt

This is a photo of my quilt made with a pattern by Violet Craft. It is a paper pieced pattern that was time consuming but I am very pleased with the results. I have had fun searching the internet for other elephant quilts in a variety of fabrics and quilting styles. I wonder if any other members of this board have done this pattern. It would be great to see even more elephants.

It's fantastic. I have been admiring that pattern but I don't know if I can do it.
Your elephant is wonderful! You're much braver to make that pattern than I'd be.
Nicely done.
I love elephants and this quilt is super. I am not sure if I could finish this. How long did it take you? Seems like a lot of paper to tear off. I sure am glad that you did it because it's great. BrendaK

Your quilt is totally stunning! I love the colors, the design...all of it! I am not a fan of paper piecing for myself...(too much paper to tear out) but WOW what beautiful results!!!

Nice work! (Great colors too, LOL ;))
Mine is not quilted yet, but here's a pic of the top... I'll post it when I'm done with the quilting. (My daughter is doing one in purples too.) |

I did the freezer paper method so I did not have to remove the paper and the pattern is ready for next time. It was about 80 hours for the whole project but I enjoyed it.It took a while to prepare the freezer paper but I hate ripping off paper. Then I sketched out quilting designs and that took a while too. I love your background "leaves"! I'm just getting started on my quilting, but plan on using vines for my background. That's about the only thing I've decided on so far.
I am looking forward to seeing more quilts. Wendy, I love your blue elephant and I am sure the purple one will be fabulous.
Gorgeous!!
I bought this pattern and am totally afraid to try it!
I love that you chose other colors than gray. I love the gray, too, but I've seen it in fuscia and it is spectacular, as is the blue you used here. Very nicely done with the quilted leaves. I may have to steal that idea if I ever attempt to work on this one! |
Amazing! Really love it and admire your patience and talent.
Love your elephant and color choice!!! Quilting is great!!!
A lovely piece of "art".

This is fantastic. You should be very pleased with this.

That's gorgeous!
I'd love to do this pattern, but as a beginner it is so daunting. I should probably buy the pattern before I miss out on it though. |
oh gosh. you will have enough for a herd of elephants. lovely, all.
beautiful elephants, love all the different colours.
CMW, your elephant is amazing...I cannot imagine how many pieces and the time it has taken you but I can see why you are pleased with the end result...it is fantastic.
Wendy, your elephant is also amazing. Hats off to both of you for such dedication. |
