EPP quilt in progress
1 Attachment(s)
I have decided to make the millefiore quilt by Katja Marek. It will be a slow, long term project as I can do lots of EPP for a few weeks and then I get bored. I have finished the first rosette of the quilt and am pleased with how it has come out. Part of me doesn’t want to carry on with the rest of the quilt in case I ‘spoil it’ haha.

Wow, I don't think I could finish that in a lifetime! looks great.
Beautiful work!
It will be absolutely gorgeous. You are off to a wonderful start.
That’s beautiful! The colors are just gorgeous.
Great colors! Keep at it little by little & before long you will be finished with an amazing quilt.
That looks fabulous! now onto stupendous!!!!
Fabulous start! Can't wait to see more.
That is beautiful! Please keep us updated hope to seethe final result!!
Fabulous rosette! Keep on stitchin'! And please show us progress pictures.
Beautiful keep up the great work!
Thanks everyone. I’m just in the process of printing out the templates for the next section so I can spend hours stressing over fabric choices
Came out beautiful! A woman in my Guild made this and it came out absolutely stunning. She used a wide variety of fabrics that I never would have chosen for this quilt but I love it. Well worth the wait!
I have recently started EPP. I am surprised that I like it so much and it seems like every day I see another pattern I just Have to make. Yours is outstanding, I don't know if I am inspired or intimidated.
Stunning. I am working on hexies now and know how slow a process it is. Hope I get to see the finished piece.
That is so pretty. I don’t think I could ever get that done!
It looks beautiful so far...I have friends that have been working on them for a couple of years. I don’t think I would have the patience but some of you obviously do. : )
that's beautiful!
That is beautiful! I understand about getting bored as I play with hexie's from time to time but I don't think I'll ever be as brave to start a millefiore! Outstanding!
That’s really pretty. I started one last year and finished 4 rosettes and for some reason just stopped working on it. My problem is overthinking what fabrics to use! And I’m not good at the fussy cutting yet. Keep up the good work!
Wow! Beautiful colors! I love it!
I have not done EPP before. I have worked with hexi's but the GFG I made was a king size quilt and it took months to make then quilt by hand. My daughter begged me for it and I gave in to her and now she has it. I just watched a video on EPP and it looks like it would make this process much easier. So maybe I will try one again. Of course I still have my templates and I could buy the papers online and then start cutting the great number of scraps here to make the flowers (using hexi's). There is always one more traditional quilt to be made again. Thanks for the inspiration.
Wow - that is stunning - and my favorite colors too. I've never done EPP before either. Not sure I could handle all that hand piecing. If you wanted to quit you could make a pillow of it! LOL
That looks difficult. Congrats on competing the first rosette.
That's an incredible block. I love it.

Fabric choices are so tough! I have started my 2nd rosette but not convinced I like the fabrics but will wait and see. |
Very beautiful start. Your fabrics are so gorgeous. It does take a long time to EPP but well worth it to see the wonderful finish
Wow, it will be beautiful when finished.

I’ve started Rosette 2. The first picture shows what so have sewn so far. The second pic shows what I have basted ready for the next round. I intend the make the final round more pinks again. I don’t think I like it as much as the first rosette but I need to remember that it will all be part of one busy quilt and that I will like some more than others.
Beautiful, all of my favorite colors
Great job! I love the color palette you are using. I have been working on that Katja Marek for a couple of years too with very different colors. I loved picking the fabrics and putting the blocks together. It was so much fun ...... I actually finished the top last summer and have been very casually trying to get the hand quilting done. It just doesn’t seem to satisfy my creative mood anymore......hopefully I will manage to finish it this winter. I need to set weekly goals and make myself do it.

Here is how mine turned out. The last block was the one with the purples and greens.....wish I had looked harder at the purples as they stand out too much but they were in my stash...
That's gorgeous!!!!!! You're doing a fantastic job.
Mum- I don't think the purple is wrong at all. Your piece is wonderful!!! |
This is outstanding! how many blocks like this are you planning on doing? It is so perfect looking A prize winner for sure!
Absolutely beautiful, hope you have a good time finishing it.
It's looking great! Maybe you can work on something else in between and not get discouraged.
Mumto2 I think it looks great - using so many solids and TOT looks so effective. Well done for completing it as well! When you say the purples stand out too much I assume you mean the small chain that is in the middle? Yes they do stand out but I don’t think it is a bad thing - your eye gets drawn to that part first before looking at all the details surrounding it. All quilts need contrast in my opinion .

Yes, the purple chain in the center is what I am still a bit tempted to switch out. If it was a flower I would have removed it. :D I haven’t quilted that part yet so I still have time........ |
My hat is off to you. Can't get the hang of EPP so the stitches don't show. Very pretty.
