From EQ5 To Reality

Auditioning the fabric colors, cutting, and sewing all done in one day. I really got into this one. This may be the future of blocks for me. Make one block larger than normal and just call it a wall hanging. It's 29 x 29 inches. I am hoping to machine quilt it.
All batiks. Squares cut at 4 1/2 and 4 7/8 for the HST's. I'm calling it "Looking For the Highway" because, to me, it looks a bit like a cloverleaf. The quilting lines I drew out on parchment paper seem like curvy roads also. A couple of the points are not perfect, but I am extremely happy. |
That turned out beautiful! Just love the colors!

That turned out so pretty! It’s even prettier than the design
|
wow, very pretty
|
Your background fabric is perfect for those yummy colors! I love it.
|
What a fun idea, and the perfect place to practice machine quilting as well.

Looks amazing, I have been thinking about buying one of the EQ's not really sure which because it depends on the price. I used to have a quilt design program but for the life of me I don't know what happened to it?? I'm excited to see your wall hanging completed.

Looking good!

Turned out beautiful. Quilt design will be perfect.

It turned out so very pretty. I like your idea about the blocks - they can be turned into wall hangings or pillowtops from there, if you want.
|
Lovely creation. Looks like the software you use has come in very useful. The end product is a winner.

Lovely..great use of color!

Beautiful. BrendaK

Your block looks awesome. I like your quilt design as well. Do you place the parchment paper over your quilt to quilt your drawn designs?
|
I love your block(s) and fabric selection. You did a fabulous job piecing it and I love its 3D effect.
|
Very nice. Beautiful design and fabric. It’d be a great size to practice FMQ on. Also great size for QAYG. Also, with a border, it’s a good wheelchair quilt. Oh, the possibilities. Thanks for sharing.
|
Great project and wonderful outcome. I like your quilting design and think it will be very complementary. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

How pretty! Did you use the colors because you had them, or did you have to go shopping? For whatever reason, I love it! You do such lovely work.
|
Yes copycat, I pin the parchment paper to the quilt and just sew over it. It's easy as pie.
RedGarnet, I was able to find every color in my stash. I am trying not to buy new fabrics, although I may have to when it comes to the backing. I do not have much of that. |
Gorgeous block. The shaded batiks sure make it beautiful and your background fabric is perfect for your block
|
You did an amazing job on this one.
