Nice dress. Good job! It's great to go "outside the box".

It's like wearable art. You can't wear your quilts to the store, but you can wear your dress and everyone will be so impressed!

Tweety2911 03-21-2011 06:28 AM

Oh your dress is as pretty as you are and it came out great.

Minnisewta 03-21-2011 07:05 AM

It's cute, nice job.

Very pretty dress, and it looks great on you. I used to make most of the clothing for myself and my children and then lots for grandchildren. Fabric has gotten so expensive, though, that unless someone needs a really special garment (That happens.) I look for good sales for ready mades.

4girlsmimi 03-21-2011 07:09 AM

Looks great! Good job. Great looking model too! :)

Lady Jane 03-21-2011 07:13 AM

Pretty dress, and you made me feel right at home bring barefoot!

PolkaBabe 03-21-2011 07:14 AM

Cute, a fun thing well done. The thing to remember - if you are having a huge problem just walk away for a while then come back to it. Sewing garments has been all my life, & am starting the quilting faze now.

Cute summer dress!

Grandma Libby 03-21-2011 09:25 AM

SO CUTE -- GREAT DRESS -- GREAT LOOK!

TootieAnn 03-21-2011 09:29 AM

LOVE the dress! I haven't done any garment sewing for several years. I found an Amy Butler pattern I would love to try, but I haven't got the money for the pattern or the fabric right now so that will have to wait. I enjoyed your pictures though.

AngieS 03-21-2011 09:30 AM

That is SEW cute!!

MillieH 03-21-2011 09:34 AM

You are ready for summer now! Great job on the dress.

quiltpd 03-21-2011 09:34 AM

Good job. It looks terrific on you !! I predict - more garment sewing in the future.

fixfido 03-21-2011 09:48 AM

You should be so proud of yourself. Something about that dress is just perfect for you! Love it.

grannypat7925 03-21-2011 09:52 AM

Great job!

darlenewitt2004 03-21-2011 09:53 AM

Very cute! Good job.

patmas57 03-21-2011 09:56 AM

It looks pretty, and you look very good in it. Take it from a long-time garment sewer who has just started quilting, clothes are much more forgiving! Setting in sleeves and darts might seem intimidating, but they're nothing compared to matching points! LOL!

Novice.for.now 03-21-2011 09:56 AM

Great!

joyce blint 03-21-2011 10:17 AM

That is an absolutely adorable dress! I've been meaning for some time now to make some type of clothing again. I made two of my high school formal dresses.

wvdek 03-21-2011 11:11 AM

Lovely dress for a lovely lady. Have you considered doing any modeling? You are very photogenic.

Linda1 03-21-2011 12:16 PM

I used to sew every thing I wore but now it is just quilts. I am going to start making my great grandbabies some clothes for summer so maybe I will enjoy it again.

Linda1 03-21-2011 12:17 PM

I also meant to say your dress is beautiful.

teacherbailey 03-21-2011 01:17 PM

Great job! I am not, repeat NOT, a garment maker (having tried several through the years) but I admire those of you who can do it, finish it and then actually have it be wearable!!!!

trolleystation 03-21-2011 01:25 PM

Not only do you have a wonderful garment that no one else has, but you saved money in the process.

bevannthomas 03-21-2011 02:05 PM

You did a great job!!! for a first timer

Taughtby Grandma 03-21-2011 02:34 PM

Very nice, looks cool for the summer.

KS quilter 03-21-2011 02:43 PM

That is a striking dress. I'm wondering if you purchased the fabrics for it at a quilt shop. Even as I reached
retirement I still made a lot of cotton dresses for work.
(secretarial). I bought for a dress more than once at a
quilt shop, as they had the prettiest fabrics. I thought
about making my little great greatdaughter a few sun dresses, but I'm not sure her mama irons! So guess I won't
make them.
