Well, the outcome of my experiment doesnt only leave me speachless but also somehow blinded

I wanted to know how different colors of the same print work for stack and wack. And I wanted to make a quilt with Kaffe Fassett fabric. Some of you recommended black for sashing but it looked to hard to me. With according solids its very, very bright.
It sure will bring our black sofa to live and might even keep the cats off!?

In the green corners I planed to applique a flower from the red print but there aren`t any well defined flowers in the print. Any other idea?

butterflies5518 08-12-2011 08:33 AM

Wow, I love it! It just sings with color and feel good vibes - awesome job!

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 08-12-2011 08:34 AM

I like it. I seem to gravitate to the quilts that others think are too bright. I may end up being one of those little old ladies in orange double knit pants and a purple t-shirt.

I like it! Were you trying for a hollow block effect in the OBW border area? The shot from the distance definitely gives it a hollow block look. You were very brave to experiement like this and I agree, it will really brighten up your black sofa, in a good way. I won't hold out much hope for the cat staying off it though! They are known for their impeccible tastes so I have a feeling the cat will like it.

Great quilt, love how you used your fabric. I'm a Fassett fan myself. I like his "paper weight" fabric.

I made the fourpatch and the sixpatch blocks of the same print and then somehow tried to get it into a top, nothing else. Looked like a great idea at the time. On those green spots in the corner I planed to applique flowers out of the red fabric. But on the print there is no defined flower so I will see what I come up with. Maybe I just leave it empty. Might look overload

WOW! I like that, especially how the outside blocks look like boxes.

Well, I say, congratulations to you for jumping outside the box and leaving your comfort zone, even if it is only for this while!! :-D

This quilt has some wonderful things going on it in and even if you don't use colors together again like this -- although I definitely think you SHOULD! -- Do put some of the techniques in your next quilts. It's just GREAT!
