Are you a master at doing inset bindings? Cause if not, you probably don't want to have a lot of contrast calling attention to the binding and away from the pieced blocks.
I don't love that gingerbread fabric with the greens used in the pieced blocks-- very different green tones. The black may be an idea. RST |
Beautiful runner! I think the red would look good for the binding
RED!!!
I think I would use the red.
I personally would not use the red or green as each would get lost on their like side. I would pick a color in both sides, maybe beige or black.
gingerbread on the back, and either red or the cream for binding.
You could do a two color binding. The Gingerbread to frame the front and the red to frame the back.
You're gonna hate me LOL!!! But I would go with the green tone in the runner. or the same green fabric you used.
I vote red.
I would go with the green. Pretty pattern.
definately red
I vote for a green, but the red is nice too!
I would use the moss green. It would frame the entire piece and be a good contrast.

Perhaps use the gingerbread fab. on the back and make it reversible, and if you have a tan or off white use that for the binding, since there seems to be that color in both fabs. Just a thought.
I myself would go with the red.
Have you got any more of that mottled green that you have in the runner? Both of the other pieces would look good as a backing.
I like the ginerbread men.
What about the fabric used in the star? It has the little gingerbread men that would match both front and back.

If you want it to be reversable you should use red but not the same print. Just a solid red.
Green Binding Gingermen on he back

Please don't forget to post a picture of the finished runner, it is really beautiful and will be no matter what you choose. |

OOOPS..un DITTO ME... Puhlease??? didn't read further down.. ok...red seeing as the gingerbread is on the back already |
Thank you to everyone for your input. I auditioned many other colored fabrics and found that black brings out the outline of all the gingerbread print in the starts. It also emphasizes the depth of the red print. So, I've decided to use a black binding. It is halfway stitched on, so when it's finished, I'll post a picture. Thanks again for the suggestions. :)
