Fabric Boxes for Bazaar Fundraiser

I am always looking for quick, inexpensive ideas for presents or bazaar items. These seem to fit the bill. And I think filled with some homemade cookies, a variety of candies, or jams, or whatever, even napkins would make a really cute gift. So I used 12-inch squares to start with and then added the buttons to the flaps. Thank you for the ideas and the site reference and so many postings. Here is my version.

Your fabric selections are great! I made several out of the 14 inch square of fabric, and they hold a square box of tissues. I am going to make more for a Church group to fill with snacks, books, lotion, etc - to give to our shut-ins as a sunshine gift. I figured they could use them after they are empty to hold odds-and-ends in or on their dressers, or a box of tissues, or to re-gift.

I am making some fabric boxes for our Women's Club to sell at their Christmas sale. What are you charging for yours? What does everyone think would be a fair price. Mine are made from a 15" square. Thanks for your input.

Great idea! People forget about gifts for us sewers.

I had a dozen fabric boxes (price of $7 for 15 inch sq) at a recent craft fair. Got lots of compliments and the boxes were touched by just about everyone who stopped at the table. Unfortunately not a single sale. I wondering sales might happen if the boxes were part of a "gift" set with soaps or cookies or fancy napkins. People commented that is what they would use the box for as they wandered off to another display.

I know that QuiltNan had posted that none had sold at their booth. BUT, I have a backup plan and if none sell, then I will put them to good use and it will save me from having to make more. We'll see how it goes. I thought about putting something in them for display purposes possibly.

justflyingin 11-13-2013 01:21 PM

Where is the original thread for these? They are really adorable!

Very nice -- love your selection of colours. I think $7.00 is a perfect price for them. Pity that they didn't sell. But now you have Christmas gifts already made.
