Pam, I sent you a PM. I like the pattern with the smaller amount of floral best but like the large too. I wonder what would happen if you made the floral a true square without that little red triangle. It would interrupt the whole line on that side, though. I am just amazed at artists like you that can "see" the fabric made up in something like this. I can copy something, anybody can do that, but have a very hard time just making up something. I have gotten better at changing fabrics in an existing pattern using fabric from my stash but it's still difficult and I end up with a raging headache. Maybe it's a matter of the more you do, the better you get. I suppose the EQ6 helps too. I remember one of the first quilts I did, a baby quilt, I colored in graph paper. It had fussy cut little baby animals in the squares w/triangles. It was hand pieced and quilted. Just found the 'hard' picture, must have been from 1975. I was so naive, lol. Anyways, I am enjoying your process of creating this beautiful quilt. Thank you for letting us be a part of it.

beauiful fabrics and pattern. GORGEOUS..

It is lovely. I love the colours. They remind me of my favourite Laura Ashley dress when I was younger. I think that the triangle is better than the small squares
|
I think that the squares of floral look as though they are part of the quilt. The triangles seem to dominate. But regardless it is beautiful. You are very clever at designing.

Very stunning quilt I love it . It reminds me of my Mom

I created the pattern for this quilt. It's my first ever attempt to write a pattern and my stomach is in knots!! Please be gentle but don't hesitate to let me know if there is a mistake. Also, I haven't made this quilt yet, I should receive the fabric in a few days, so I wouldn't be surprised if something needs to be changed or corrected.
I will try to do a tutorial on my blog while I make the quilt. The links to the PDF documents are at the top of the blog that is in my signature here. |
Oh thank you! That will be great to see the quilt in progress! I think it will be fabulous. I can't wait to see the fabrics. I'd say "good luck" but know you will do a super job!

This will be gorgeous!!! Keep us posted as things progress.

Your pattern is absolutely beautiful. If I were going to change anything I think it would be the center tulip. Maybe good idea to stay with the rose theme. Just a thought. I would like to see it when it's finished. Good Job.

Pam, I think it looks beautiful. Your work always amazes me.

The fabric came in the mail today. It's so pretty! Bright colors and bright white.
I have to finish up a couple of things so I can devote my time to working on this exclusively, start to finish. |

Rosebud sounds good. I like the shape of the tulip in that space, I don't want something like a round flower, and a rosebud would be about the shape of the tulip.
|
Oh your fabric is beautiful!!!!! I was at the LQS today but they did not carry this line. I didn't know how much to buy anyways but I'm going to call around to see if anyone around here may have it before I send away for it. I like the rosebud in middle too. I can't wait to follow you as you make this beautiful design of yours.

Ok, here's a rosebud. I just widened the petals of the tulip and put the green piece on the base.
|
That is drop-dead GORGEOUS! I wouldn't change a thing!

Beautiful design as always Pam! :-D
In the first version, I found that the large floral was dominating too much, when you made those pieces triangles (although they're now bigger!) they blend much better. And I love the modification of the tulip to a rosebud. A subtle difference but one that makes the whole design cohesive. ;-) The fabric is gorgeous as well! Now, is it done and on the LA yet? |
I am still undecided about the floral at the corners. When I look at it with it all floral, the diamond shape of the red checked Jacob's Ladders gets a little bit lost, my eye has to seek out that shape. But now that I see the fabric in person and see that it is mostly white background, it may look a lot better with the corners all in that fabric.
Yep, the rosebud is a lot better. See why I need you guys? It's not on the LA quite yet. :-D I have two quilt tops draped over it but haven't started on one because they deserve better quilting than I can do at the moment. I WANTED to do them but I need to do some others that a simple all-over is fine for. |
Great pattern you have created and the fabrics are gorgeous. My own personal preference for the large floral is the triangles. To me the sqaures kind of look out of place. That's just me though, and I know you will end up with a gorgeous quilt.

I agree, triangle rather than squares. That will mean less seams to go through when you do the quilting. The design is lovely. It has an almost country French feel. I say go for it. Please let us see the finished quilt!
