Fall Leaf Table Runner
2 Attachment(s)
This hand appliqued runner is what I did with left over blocks I made from a long time ago quilt. I wanted to do something for my sis as a hostess gift for hosting Thanksgiving this year. This is a table runner should fit her farmhouse big table pretty well. It is shown here on my table, and I don't have the leaf in the middle. So it isn't as long as what her table will be. But, I think you gals can get the idea, right?
I hope she gets a kick out of it. I know she loves these colors. There is a close up of the old calico type fabrics from long ago we used to quilt with. LOL... |
It's very pretty, love the colors.

That's really very pretty, great job. Where did you get the pattern for the leaves? Wouldn't they be beautiful in batiks?

But, if you save a picture and print it out full sized, then cut it apart, you only have to add the eighth inch to the pieces to have it for yourself. Back then you see we used a piece of cardboard to trace around with a pencil, then we eye-balled the eighth of an inch seam allowance as we used scissors to cut them out. Now I would tape them to a piece of paper, draw in the eighth inch lines and then use them to cut out the shapes. You then did a needle turn to applique them to the background. Labor intensive you say? Yup, you would be right. It is a wonder I continued to quilt it took so long to do. LOL... God bless the women that invented all of the time saving ways we quilt now. That is all I have to say. |
Thank you all so very much. I appreciate your comments so much.

She will love it, because it is so pretty.
That is very pretty and you are right about all the time savers. I wouldn't be quilting if I had to cut everything out with a pair of scissors. And then to quilt by lantern or kerosene lamps?? Aren't we lucky to live now?
It is lovely. Thank you for sharing!
Very nice!!
I really like the leaves!

That's lovely. I love how you used different fabrics for the leaves. I picked some leaves out of the yard some time ago and ran them through my scanner to get patterns. Now, if I just knew where I put them.........
Really like that runner. She is going to love it for sure.
That will look so nice on a Thanksgiving table. Nice!
