Fall log cabin lunch bags... they're done!

6 Attachment(s)
Just finished eight bags altogether. Glad they're done. Two more bindings on small toppers and I'm 100% done for the craft show that's in two weeks, except for price tags. Now to work on Christmas gifts and the binding on the Back to Nature before the next craft show.

Photos are 1. three bags and 2. their backs--then 3. three more bags and 4. a close up of what is on most backs. (It's the Naples Grape Festival and I was told anything grape/wine like sells well. :o) Then 5. two other patterns and 6. their backs....

My daughter and d-i-l both love the apple bag best, so I'll be making two more for Christmas--not exactly the same, of course. :o

No! I keep getting different opinions. They are more work than a topper... and I sell those for $30-35. Ideas? Suggestions? They are very plain--no pockets. I am going to add hard bottoms though.

WOW!! :D They are all wonderful. I have always loved your work & the beautiful things that you make. I treasure the log cabin doll quilt you made for me, with the floral fabric. It just makes me smile every time I look at it. Thank you for sharing with all of us today & good luck with your sale.

There's no formal pattern for the log cabin ones, but I learned how to make bags using "Easiest Handbags Ever" by Fig Tree Quilts. I made one--then once I had the gist of bag making, I made the log cabin ones. I've made many changes. That's a great pattern to start with. A friend sent it to me, or I probably never would have made a bag.

jojosnana 09-16-2012 12:44 PM

They look wonderful and perfect for that group. I can't guess at a price because that is not my area of expertise.

QuiltnNan 09-16-2012 12:45 PM

How did I miss this thread?? Karla those are just great. Pricing is sooo hard though. You just never know what the market will bear. And the average shopper really has no idea the amount of work that goes into making the blocks let alone the bags. I would be tempted to put a $40 price tag on them at the show. Or perhaps price them at $45 and put a big sign up that says show special $5 off on bags. Maybe on Saturday you can get a feel for what people are willing to pay and adjust accordingly for Sunday. Pricing is always the hardest thing to decide.

Feline--you nailed what I was thinking. They are very plain (pocekts, etc), but most have convinced me to start at $40. I'll listen to comments and lower to $35 if need be. They are sooo much work. I'll stick to books and toppers. lol

gingergrandma 09-18-2012 12:34 AM

They are all so beautiful. Great job.

Cuddly Quilter 09-18-2012 03:30 AM
