The leaves are falling outside ... and Falling Leaves are in my kitchen!!

Another of my projects with one inch squares. Though there are 3"x1" filler strips.
I know, NUTS, I am!!

(and yes, it's straight and square ... please remember, a photographer, I am not! :))

9 different greens, each leaf different fabric, and a striped fabric for the stem. So that; brings us to 34!!

bearisgray 10-05-2011 05:53 AM

Cute - one inch cut size or one inch finished size squares?

tealfalcon 10-05-2011 05:55 AM

Very pretty....I am starting to like fall fabrics a lot more.

Thanks all ... the colours are a lot richer IRL. The photo has washed the colours out some.

Oh so striking, QuiltE! I also have one done with this size of squares but there's only 6 leaves. Would you like to see?

I made this over 10 years ago. I remember sewing on the stems on our way to WDE. It's the year we met our future SIL so that's been at least 11 years!

WDE time is usually the peak time for foliage in our part of the country

(WDE--World Dairy Expo in Madison)

Thanks for letting me share G

Border fabric has faded over the years!

Of course, you can share .... I'd be disappointed if you hadn't!! :)

Too funny .... on the similarities. I didn't hand sew the stems, rather I used a striped fabric! And too ... that the outside quilting was done the same as how I did mine. Centre part I just SITD with the blocks and rows. GMTA!!! Must be the farmer in us.

Yes, WDE is a beautiful leaf time here too ... I always enjoyed our drives to and fro. Well, except the time fog hit the area and the drives to/fro the hotel were wicked (we hadn't got one in Madison, so it was a wicked trek!) Another time we had a wonderful trip out to Hoard's etc!!

Weren't you suppose to go to Madison this year?? Oh them's were the days!

just_the_scraps_m'am 10-05-2011 08:29 AM

shortstuff 10-05-2011 09:14 AM

S and DIL are driving up tomorrow. D and SIL work in the AI industry so WDE is intense week for them.

You should add this pick to the scrappy thread

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-135936-1.htm

Isn't your avatar quilt on the thread? Now has 43 pages! Some day going to sit down and look through it again. Okay lunch time's over gotta work now! G

It is beautiful. reminds me of a little Alzheimer's lady I took care of. She complained of being chilled. I said, "Fall is in the air" and she replied, "It's in the kitchen too."

Yes intense time for genetics! Lots from this area will be there with Semex and with their cattle too. And of course to observe. Will S+DIL come to the Royal?

Didn't know about that thread .. heck pretty much everything I have done would be candidates! I'll have to get looking at that thread and see what it's all about too! Thanks for the direction!! :)

Lovely job! Love this time of year, when the leaves are changing color everywhere. Even inside is nice when the look as good as yours.

Quiltinelaine 10-05-2011 04:28 PM

Really beautiful: I started making this pattern w/two different colors for leaves and wondered about turning them around: Wow - looks really GREAT:
