I got some great fabric recently while on a goodwill trip with my mom. Two packages of fabric, one for $4 and one for $5 yielded 44 fat quarters and 5 one yard cuts!!!!! Three were Connecting Threads kits(still had patterns included), and most were grouped and folded together as if they were for a specific project. I always wonder who got rid of them and why, and really wish I knew what the projects were. Now I have to find projects for them........

10 Hoffman brights-really fun

mamaw 02-08-2010 07:37 AM

Lucky you...I have been looking; but never find anything like that around here.

dakotamaid 02-08-2010 07:37 AM

What a haul!!

Makes you wonder if someone made a boo-boo and put them in the wrong bag to donate!!

I'll be checking out the goodwills more often also!!

Wow. Great find. I think things like this are from quilters who've passed away and the family has to get rid of lots of "stuff". I don't think most people would consider fabric or notions "heirlooms" so they're donated (or thrown away:<). I'm sure the quilter would be very happy to know her fabric will be loved.

Our Goodwill charges way too much for everything! Sometimes you can find new stuff at the store cheaper! Great find! Love the colors!

Wow! and I thought the two pieces I found at Goodwill last month for $2 was a good buy. Those are great!

Lucky you!! I love Sally's (ie goodwill) although I rarely make finds like that! What a great economical addition to your stash. I too wonder how these kinds of things get there. Can only assume the original purchaser passed away and the family simply gave it to Goodwill or Sally's.

That is what our local good will is like. But there is still a thrift store and the net town down the road. It has two goodwills.

vbourck 02-08-2010 08:16 AM

I should clarify, I said goodwill generically- it was Thrift town in Dallas. But I check every thrift store for fabric, often it is hanging with sheets, and have found some bigger cuts- 3-4 yds a couple of times.

beachlady 02-08-2010 08:42 AM

Those are beautiful fabrics. Lucky you.

rootyr 02-08-2010 09:14 AM

what a wonderful find!!

Chasing Hawk 02-08-2010 02:18 PM

That is where I found my last three batches of fabric. I got tons of fat quarters and lots of 1/2 yard pieces to cut up into 3 or 4 inch squares for projects later on.

laadw 02-08-2010 02:21 PM

You are so lucky. What Goodwill is this?!?!

vbourck 02-08-2010 03:08 PM

It is Thrift town in Dallas on Westmoreland.

Crafty1 02-08-2010 03:12 PM

Cool beans and great find  :D

craftybear 02-08-2010 03:15 PM

Wow, good find. We are getting a new Goodwill store 8 miles from our house. We were in town today and they had the name on the building and big sign opening soon.
