Fast Baby Girl quilt

2 Attachment(s)
Dear friends to our family became parents of a girl...........almost three month ahead of time. The baby is in intensive care but is doing great. I thought she could use a gardian angle quilt.

It was quite an experience to make a quilt in three days and work with big pieces of fabric. The pics dont show the colors accurate, the big one is too pale and the close up to dark. The fotographer is at work. lol.

:D It's soft. It's pretty. It's feminine! :D

How kind of you to "whip" this up for them, ever so quickly.

... I bet it did feel odd for you to work with such "big" pieces of fabric. :) I know that when I moved from the FWS 6" blocks to the PC 8", how big and awkward they seemed.

Great twist on the D9P.

How sweet is that quilt?! Beautiful work for a beautiful baby.

(My two oldest boys were 29-weekers... despite challenging beginnings early on, they are now healthy, vibrant, intelligent and charming young men of 17 and 19!)

Pretty quilt to cover the baby with love as she grows stronger.

Pollytink 01-21-2013 12:19 PM

I love it! The colors and fabric are perfect for a baby girl. Are the angels embroidered on an em or printed panels? This is one I'd love to copy but not sure if I could pull it off! They're going to love it!

Grandma Peg 01-21-2013 12:24 PM

The angels are an applique embroidery design by JuJu and the quilt measures 60" x 60". Thank you all for your nice comments.
The baby girl is doing great: she war born january 9th and she does not need any more help for breathing and thanks to the intensive care and a stomach tube she is gaining weight.

A baby that preemie can be such a strain for the new young parents -- been there, done that, 4 times, many years ago. Thank God our medical care of these preemies has improved so much. Your darling quilt will bless them all and even the hospital nursery if they are allowed to take it there. Very sweet!

Beautiful sweet angel baby quilt. Congrats on challenging yourself by working with BIG pieces. :D Your work is always fabulous.

jstorm67 01-22-2013 04:01 AM

Very nice. I can tell it's a disappearing 9 patch, correct. I am planning on doing the same thing for my newest grand baby due in May. Can you tell me how big you cut your squares? I haven't done one of these yet and am anxious to try it. Did you use a pattern or make up your own? Any input you can give would be a great help. I am new to quilting and have only made 4 so far.

twinkie 01-22-2013 04:09 AM

WOW, you did a great job! Will be praying for the wee one.
