Great quilting! What about scalloped echo (one or two lines) with dark (fabric-coloured) thread? It will add texture without distracting from gorgeous feathers.

Your feathers are lovely. I like the idea of echoing the feathers with a stitched scalloped row (or two). If you decide to do that, I’d cut “binding” fabric three or four inches wide, sew it, right sides together to the front, in the scallop design, trim and turn to the back and hand sew that straight edge. You'd have a lovely scalloped edge to the quilt and it'd "fit" the feathering perfectly. Great job.

I like the scallop but as tight as that is, I'd do it as a facing rather than traditional binding. Otherwise, I'd echo the feathers and do a straight edge binding. Is finished width any determining factor in how you do this?

It is beautiful just the way it is but a scalloped edge would be nice.

You could do either. I probably would just trim to the space I wanted between the feathers and trim. That gives you plenty of space to make sure it squares up. Love your feathers.

I hope I understood about the scallop. You planned to stitch a scallop right???? Cutting and binding a scallop that small would be a nightmare!!

Very nice! I would add the scallop. I’m looking forward to the day that my feathers will be as pretty as yours.

And to think ... you almost didn't continue with the feathers. Absolutely beautiful. I like the scallop idea.

I wouldn't trim it off and make it smaller, I'd just echo it once or twice with the scallop as you envisioned. It doesn't need to go all the way to the binding. I would try to leave the same amount of space as there is on the other side of the feathers. In the corners there's more room, so you may have to add something else there, maybe some more feathers.
