My daughter picked out the Twiggy fabric line so I'm playing with designs to use it. I got the entire 34 FQ set and I needed to figure out how to use the different fabrics in each of the 4 color ways. They are more vibrant that the picture, especially the deep eggplant purple and the rich brown.

I played around with different block styles between the stars but, I decided to keep it simple and not compete with them (and minimize other piecing).

I have 3 yards of border fabric in the second row, 3rd from the left, in the picture of the entire line. It's 78" x 78" as it is plus the outer border of maybe 6". That would make it a total of 90"x90".

I got the center square and points for two stars, and a few of the feathers cut out. I thought I better stop cutting and make sure that I really want to do this before I cut any more. one picture is just looking at the colors together. Ignore the flowered background. I need a new ironing board cover and I've got a folded sheet on there for now. :)

I have the Matri Michell feathered star templates. I've had them for many years but have used the shapes for other things, not the star. The most exacting part is the feathers... of course! I took the two FQs for one set of feathers, layed the first one face up on the ironing board and sprayed it with starch. Layed the other fabric face down on the damp piece and smoothed them together and ironed them.

They are staying together very well with the starch while I cut strips, cut the triangles from the strips, and sew them together.

That may be awhile, to get more done. I'm still messing around with the design. The stars are over 27" so if I do solid strips I will have to piece them out of the FQs. So I thought if I am going to piece the strips then why not use more of the beige and make the colored fabric go farther?

I will have to do some serious figuring on whether I can get all of this out of the 34 FQs. I'm still toying with doing a very simple star block around the feathered stars but that's adding even more work to it.
