This Feathered Star Needs a Name...
1 Attachment(s)
This wall hanging began in March 2010 at a Marsha McCloskey quilting camp. I had started two quilts but had never completed one at that time.
It's the only feathered star that I've seen that is set on point. Marsha has never designed one that way, and she encouraged me to try it. I designed one of the inside borders with 44 set-in seams so that I'd learn how to do them. This was really hard to do for a beginner, and I liked it alot. I sent it to a long-arm quilter. She kept it for 11 months, and I didn't like some of the quilting so I've spent a long time picking some of it out and redoing it on my domestic machine. I'm tired of fooling with it, and I'm calling it done! All I need is a name for the label. I have no ideas left. Can you help me name her? |
A star is born

Finicky feathers (you are finicky about doing anything more with it)
or fussy feathers (cause you fussed with it so much) |
Bright Morning Star.
Beautiful, whatever you call it!
Caught a falling star.
American Beauty!
I'm usually not good at naming quilts, but when I saw your beautiful feathered star, "A Salute to Jenn" came to me
Jenn's Star. It's beautiful!
Marsha Made Me Do It. Very well done, I know how difficult that pattern is because I have attempted it. Notice, I said attempted.

I don't know what to name her, but she is beautiful!

An American Star
love it and so sorry about the long-arm quilter. Sure hope you didn't have to pay full price.
Wow is that sharp. Name, how about "My most totally awesome, wonderful star"
That is a beautiful quilt. I'm no help with names though.
well i'm pretty sure you won't use the same long arm quilter. Eleven months makes my teeth hurt!
lovel, lovely quilt. Red,White and Blue surprise? |
Beautiful. BrendaK

I'd call it Hurah! because the red, white, and blue colors and movement in your feathered star made me think of the "Marching Home..." song. All of your fussing paid off. Nice job.

Snowflake Star?
Jubilation! Finally done.
I'm with SheriR, Jenn's Star sounds right.
I love the red, white and blue. How about patriot's star?
"Security of Vision" I think about the patriotic colors and what this country has been going through the past few years.
Lovely star! Yes, a star is born! You have tackled those set-in seams very well! :)
All of the names sound great. Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous.
Star Light, Star Bright
Finally free!
Very pretty!
The USA star.It is glorious like our country.
I haven't read all the posts, but considering the difficulties you have encountered with this project I think
"Trial by Fire" might be an appropriate name. |
Really pretty, but I'm not help with naming it.
Name her Elizabeth (my name) and send it to me. I love it. I understand your frustration, I end up hating something I have so much trouble with. I love the feathered star but knew I would never finish one. It looks very complicated to me.
