Well, I have been on the board here a few days and have certainly not been terribly shy about "opening my mouth", so to speak. Guess some of you might like to see some of what I have done. Much of this is not too recent, not sure what will show up but will try to post a few things. If you want more, let me know. <G>

Fantastic all around - I really am drawn to your Hoffman challenge purse though - it is really sharp!

laceybritt 07-23-2010 09:04 AM

Beautiful!!! I made some 2 inch pinwheels from trimmings and I wondered what I could ever do with them. Yours look like stars behind the lovely tree.

cindyg 07-23-2010 10:16 AM

Now how clever are you???? to put those holly leaves on the edges of the Christmas tree. What a great idea. The blue and orange one - fantastic. Looks complicatged. And I love the purse. Thanks for showing us.

I designed that purse. May eventually write it up as a for sale pattern. Maybe, Someday. <G>

Thanks,

The Christmas tree is a modification of a pattern that uses 8" squares to make a bed size quilt. Several of us in one of my quilt groups modified the project to be a wall hanging using 4" blocks. The holly was part of the original, but I like the way it "softens" the edges of the HSTs to make it more tree like. I think I have pictures of this one before I embellished it with all the tree trimmings. (I actually made 3 of these, one for my sister and her family, and one in blues/whites/silvers for my brother and his Jewish family. <G>)

The Blue and Orange one is a bit complicated. It starts with a center block, on point. Those little tiny 9-patch units finish at 1 1/2" square. <G> Each round of blocks simplifies as the quilt builds from the center out. It is a pretty large quilt. But fun to make.

Thanks again,
Pati, in Phx

I would love to see more, Inever get tired of seeing the beautiful work everyone does on their quilts. It can be very inspiring and you can get a lot of new ideas.

mom-6 07-24-2010 12:39 AM

Love the way you let a relatively simple design become spectacular by the placement of color and fabric.

mimee4 07-24-2010 06:17 AM

You have done great work. I love the purse flap. WOW! And the self-designed one is beautiful. The Christmas tree is a great design, too.

RedGarnet222 07-24-2010 06:31 AM

Hello from northern Nevada! Welcome to the board.
I love your projects, especially the orange and blue one you designed.

I thought I had the purse pattern until you said that you designed it. It is very simular though. Here is a link so you can see it....

I love your work. You are a real fabric artist.

Did you make the ice-cycles on the tree with increasing
stitches so they lost width as they dropped from their
"wire" they are hanging on?

This is one awesome job of fabric magic.

Thank you. No, the icicles are actually mini tree decorations. The tree is fabric, made with 4" blocks. Then I trimmed the tree with real decorations. <G> I will try to find a picture of the tree before decorating.

Have fun,
