QuiltnMyra 02-02-2013 01:12 PM

Just beautiful. Lovely work. And those Bear's Paws - my favourite block! You have me drooling, kritterwood.

EllenwoodGa 02-02-2013 01:12 PM

Great job, your quilts do not look like the beginners I've seen, LOL

janceejan 02-02-2013 01:16 PM

the first and third are pitiful!!! best you send them to ME! i Will hide them for you. jk jk great job.

grannie cheechee 02-02-2013 01:17 PM

Beautiful quilts!!!!!!!!!!! Was that merciful enough? LOL

Debbie B 02-02-2013 01:20 PM

You're doing great! They're all really really pretty tops. Nothing to be merciful about...you do good work. Be sure to post pictures when you finish quilting them.

Joan Abear 02-02-2013 01:24 PM

Those all are so pretty! Your doing a fantastic job:)

ube quilting 02-02-2013 01:27 PM

Wow! These are teriffic. I love your sence of color. The fabrics in the second quilt are sumptuous.
Now, in the last quilt, the yellow block? Not sure there is enough yellow in the rest of the pattern to carry it off. I like it but needs to have either more yellow background or lose that block and add a narrow yellow border! Just take a second look at it. This is only an opinion and not meant to be a quilting police. Try rearranging the blocks as another idea.

I do like this top alot.

You are making great strides for a new quilter. Will look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

You sure are doing great work. You have accomplished so much and you should be proud of yourself!! Thanks for sharing these wonderful quilts with us,

kritterwood 02-02-2013 02:09 PM

ube, those were just the blocks layed out, i didnt end up using that yellow one either, just an odd duck, did also rearrange and add a batik green border between and around. so yall werent able to see the flaws? id like to be able to sell these when their done, as the maker ofcourse i can find all the flaws and thats all i can look at. that blue one, the one that had an extra piece ot it on the bottom , lol, did sell it tacked, is there a trick to getting every block to line up perfectly? sheesh ive been makeing every block as perfect as possible, sew my 1/4in seam as clean and still i have to back up once i get the strips together and redo the blocks so they line up right as im putting the quilt together, never mind getting the points perfect on those claws. do quilts that yall make and sell have all that perfect or is it just not knoticable once its quilted? the small green one is a quilt as you go, i finished the blocks before putting them together, there is a small seam on the back and freehand quilted on my machine, this will eventually be a big quilt, love the freehand quilting but cant do a big quilt on my machine, looking for a quilting machine setup. any suggestions. thank yall for all the compliments

Verrrry nice! You are a quick learner!

ube quilting 02-02-2013 03:14 PM

@K. Post#14

very nice to get an update on that neat quilt.

No perfection is not an absolute when making a top for sale. If you get close your doing fine. As for piecing the top together to get the blocks to line up, Pinning works for me. One on each side of the seams and don't sew over the pins.

When sewing rows together, there is a newish thread that discribed basting across the intersections before sewing the entire row. A good idea. It alows you to check the intersections and make corrections before you sew the whole row together.
I'll re post if I can find it or if anyone else knows about it they can post too.

I really like your work.

redquilter 02-02-2013 04:03 PM

WOw! If this is the kind of work you do while "still learning" I can't wait to see what you turn out once you've "learned"! Beautiful quilts. Especially love the first one.

ube quilting 02-02-2013 04:04 PM

Here is the thread for aligning blocks and seams so they match. I think it is a good idea.
