The kids quilts I started this time last year intending them for Christmas gifts for the nieces and nephews (4 girls and 2 boys). I got 3 of them done in time in between a trip to HI before hubby deployed and an emergency trip to MO to visit my stepfather before he passed away from lung cancer. Here are pics of the 3 I just finished handsewing the binding to and a fun little wall hanging I did to take a break from the bigger projects. It's my first time doing dresdens!

Great Job!

What a schedule. Thanks for serving our country, by taking care of your family while your hubby is busy serving.
So appreciate all you and your husband does for us.

sorry to hear of the lose of your Step father, I lost my dad with lung cancer too. :(

Bueniebabe 09-29-2011 04:50 AM

like them all but really love the purple and green

tabsmonsters 09-29-2011 04:52 AM

Thank you Sue! I think it was the fastest deployement due to so much going on and he was gone from Aug-June!

Buenie, that is my favorite as well! I was tempted to keep it for myself.

kat112000 09-29-2011 04:53 AM

WOW your are one busy lady!!!

What pattern is Abby's? I love the colors!

ladypetite 09-29-2011 04:54 AM

A very busy schedule. They say that busy hands get things done.....so true! These are lovely quilts and I sure the children will love them immensely.

My thanks to your husband for his service to our country and for your support. I know it is rough on you. As the mother of one son and 3 grandsons serving in the army, I know how it can keep a family on edge.

Sorry for the loss of your stepfather.

mequilter 09-29-2011 04:55 AM

Beautiful job on all of these projects. I just love the colors and patterns on Abby's quilt.

Kat, all three are actually the Disappearing 9 Patch. Tyler's and Emmy's were made using Moda Charm packs I purchased from Charmpacksplus and Abby's I had the fabric in my stash ( I almost cried using it but that's what a stash is for right?!).

Thank you, ladypetite!

I thought that's what it was. I didn't even realize the other two were done using that method until you said it!!! LOL! I might have to give this a whirl. Thank you for sharing your great work!!!

tabsmonsters 09-29-2011 05:09 AM

Thanks ladies!

Kat, I did the other two first and wanted to try something a bit different with Abby's. I found out she liked purple and the green and thought it would just pop. With only using two colors, I could arrange them better. The others were just kinda random and there were more prints in the charm packs than solids so they kinda drove me nuts (doesn't take much these days, lol!).

Great bunch of quilts!

Tyler's Top, the second block, top row ...... I like how the re-positiioning of the D9P. Would make for a nice overall layout, wouldn't you think?

Oh yes, I like that one! I think this pattern would be much more fun if only a few fabrics were used but I liked using the charm packs because they were already cut.

marilynr 09-29-2011 05:23 AM

Purple & green: awesome color combination. Some of my
favorite colors, but would have never have put them
together in a quilt. Love it.

valleyquiltermo 09-29-2011 05:24 AM

Great quilts, Tylers quilt is my favorite. Then Emmys, Next is the holloween wall hanging. They are all nice.
Give thanks to your hubby for his service. I thank you for your service also. ;-)

My eyes saw the 3 and I as 31 and I almost fell off my chair, I am impressed with 3 and everything else you have done. Hope life has more ups like the accomplishments rather than bumps like the ones you are dealing with, and you are doing great work I am very impressed. (I don't know what to say if it had been 31! LOL)
