Lime green/turquoise took almost 3 years because it spent a lot of that time as a UFO abandoned by me; blocks are 15" silk dupioni and embroidered. Daughter's quilt originally was for me but she claimed it.

First time I have seen Aquamarine quilt done with yellow sashing. It looks so nice.

LindaM 04-19-2010 05:36 PM

Beautiful - both are gorgeous. I really like the stripe sashing effect in your dd's quilt.

daisey 04-19-2010 06:01 PM

Both quilts are amazing and I would have stole it too!

quilter girl 04-19-2010 06:10 PM

So nice. I looooooooooooove your daughters - what choice of colors!!!!!! What is the name of that pattern? Okay got a question - thought I could figure it out but must be having a dumb attack. How did you do those white/cream squares? I would of thought there would of been a rectangle placed between the black strips, then a bigger piece in the next row, then another rectangle placed in the third row - to make a square. But when I look at the picture it just looks like a one piece square. Is this clear as mud?

BKinCO 04-19-2010 06:13 PM

Those are gorgeous!!!

The quilts are both lovely and each suit the furnishings in the respective bedrooms. The white in the quilt and the white furniture in your daughter's room are a perfect match.

KiwiQuilter 04-19-2010 10:08 PM

Just delicious. Both are fantastic - well done.

mem123 04-19-2010 11:57 PM

The sashing is actually 3 pieces - dk. brown strips outside the stripe and then the cream block is added at the end. Did that help? The pattern is out of a magazine. Copied even the fabric because I fell in love with it.

It is actually a lime green batik. I was so sick of working with the dupioni that I switched to batik for the sashing and inner border. The outer border is the dupioni. I had purchased the silk dupioni in lime green but it sits still in a drawer unused.

PurpleBecca 04-20-2010 03:26 AM

Both FABULOUS!!! AND you stuck at it and got it done - eventually - well done!

Wow! I don't know if anyone asked yet, but, who is the maker of the aqua and brown fabric? I love it! You really out it to it's best use with your quilt. Oh excuse me, your daughter's quilt... LOL! The other one is spectacular! The silk is just luminous!

The aqua and brown fabric is from the Madame Butterfly collection by Ro Gregg. I made two different quilts from that fabric collection. The second top has yet to be quilted and it will be mine. It is a lap size and will be draped over my family room sofa. Daughter has been warned it will not go to her. LOL

barnbum 04-21-2010 04:25 AM

I love the colors/fabrics in that second one!!

peabee 04-21-2010 05:56 AM
