Finally Finished!
 

I finally finished this quilt. Special circumstances had turned it into an UFO for a couple of years, but now it's done!

Not sure if the quilting police would agree on that, but it is partially hand-quilted (the inner square), and then I bought a sewing machine about a month ago and decided that it'll take ways too long to finish this by hand... So I sped up the process a bit! ;)

The machine quilting is not perfect (first time for me to try feathers), but I won't show you a close up of the bits that would not pass judgement, and I'm happy with it as it is, despite the flaws! :)

Wonderful quilt. My feelings about those bits & pieces that don't pass inspection is ...... if it can't be seen from a galloping horse then it doesn't matter. <smile>

For someone who just bought a machine a few months ago & never done feathers before, your quilting is fantastic. I love the various quilting motifs/designs you used throughout the quilt.

Monale, your quilt is truly spectacular! If you had not mentioned this was your first attempt at quilting with a domestic machine, I would have thought it was done by a seasoned machine quilter! You really rock!

To clarify: This is not the absolute first quilt I'm doing on a DSM. I did two on my mom's (who lives in another country than I do), mainly straight lines and a little simple FMQ. Now, I just got myself a sewing machine, and this is the first quilt I quilted on that one.

Your quilt....your rules....if it pleases you...that's what counts. I think your quilt is wonderful. Too often quilters stress over a utility quilt in the same way as if they were sewing a show competition quilt. For me,that takes the fun out of the process.

I love the extra little bit of glam on the lining. The only "judgement" I have of the quilt is that is remarkably pretty and no one would ever guess that you hadn't tried FMQ by machine before.
