Some people just have good luck. Great find
Great find and I think it's neat when you get something that's just a little bit different from the norm - like it's white instead of black! Pretty cool.
And yes, that big thing is the buttonholer. It works really well actually, just cumbersome. |
I almost fainted when I heard the price!!! The white FW are going for big bucks!! They only made them a few years in the 60's.
SOOOOOOOOOO happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!! :D |
Doncha just love it when you get a deal like this?!! Enjoy!!
What a great deal. You are so lucky. And she is a beauty.
So who says honesty doesn't pay? Great find. Congratulations!!!
She's a little beauty. I paid 261.00 for mine on e-bay and was scared to pieces it wouldn't be a good buy, but it sews perfectly and is a little beauty. I named her "Baby" and she is the light green minty color. I'm taking her with me on my trip to see the kids for Thanksgiving and hope to get
in some sewing while I'm gone. Congrats on your purchase. |
Sash....ha! try to sew on a busy holiday! :D would like to try too but i'll be full of Grandkids and riding the gator around the farm to sit long enough to sew! Have fun though.
WOW!!! She is purty!! What a great deal too :D:D:D
Wow, lucky you!

The attachment is a zipper foot. The foot moves from side to side not the needle. I learned to sew at 10 on my Mothers treadle machine that my Father motorized. It only did straight stitching and I put many, many zippers in with that zipper foot. I also had the buttonhole attachment in that same pink box that I used on my 1960 Singer 401A. I had 3 little girls and made a lot of buttholes with that great attachment. I sold it for $5! Who knew!
I read somewhere that all original FW's were black. They simply weren't made in any other color. Any other color was refurbished. But who care, right? They look good in any color. Maybe our resident machine guru can confirm???? My mum bot one from a friend for $50.00. I have now inherited that one. I saw one in an antique store window in Port Townsend, WA - $925.00 !!!! Quite a price difference ! WOW!!!
I didn't see my spelling error in time. I DID NOT make buttholes but buttonholes! LOL
I am going to take a guess of $50. Nice machine. You will love it for its simplicity. I take mine to classes and love it. Jan
The attachment is a buttonholer. The cams are for different size/shape of buttonholes. I remember my Mom's old one!
There are definitely light green ones. My friend has one. Her case looks just like the case you have for your white one.
Per parrothead comment: L M B O at the "butthole" error !!!!
the other attachment is a buttonholer. I had one with my singer.
A lady in Frankfort Ky. found one at Good Will for $5.oo. Wasn't she a lucky duck?
Very nice!
$5 ?????? Unheard of! She was a lucky buyer! One board member found a like new tan fw for $45. Now that was a deal!
My friend has a Lt green one and it came from England. She had to take it in and have a different motor put on so she could use it. I seem to recall that some colors like white also came from foreign countries. Jan

Do I hear drums rolling????????? I talked her down to..............$30.00 I was SO out of breath ....MIL had like 3 in cabinet (singers) & 3 other portable all singers but one was a strange one that i can't think of the name. It was sitting all it lonesome self shoved under a tablecloth table full of christmas figures and i bumped it with my foot and look under the table....kinda dark but when i saw it was green/white box...I KNEW IT was the FW & closed my eyes & said Lord, let it be a FW pls, u know how long i have been looking for one??? She didn't even know what it was..wanted to know why i wanted this one among all the other better ones..so i told her and what it was worth but then again what it would cost me to service it , etc...she thanked me for being honest and ask if $30 okay? Ha, is it?? Happy Dance!! |
   thanks
It is a buttonholer. I remember them in the 60-70's for the singer I had.
What a find. So happy for you.

I just bought one of these on e-bay this last week. Mine was a 1960, made in Great Britian. Mine sews like a dream. Hope yours does too when it's cleaned up and serviced. Enjoy. I know I am.
thanks gramma jean! It sews good but i just wanted to service it first...no telling how long it has been since she used it. Care to share your pic with us? How do we know where it came from orginally? Mine was from middle1963 to early 1964.
I think someone says go to the "featherweight Singer" sites, right? |
Good job and nice price!
:) Lucky Lady!!
The others are right...the big attachment with the cams is a buttonholer...and the foot is a zipper foot, and it most likely IS for this machine *IF* the foot adjusts side to side. I couldn't see in the photo well enough to be able to tell... And Featherweights DID come in tan, white, and mint, along with black. Any other colors are definate refurbs... :) |

What a desk. I would love to have one of the white ones, but haven't been able to justified the prices that I've seen. Congratulations!
Very good buy. Congrats! Happy sewing.
Congrats! That's my dream machine. I'm too blind to use a black one. Just love the whites.

I'd like a white one someday too... Have fun with it.. ConnieF |
OMG - - $30????????????????? What a find!!!!!!!!!!!
My FW is a black one, made in 1948 and she still sews beautifully. These machines just don't die. Google Singer Featherweight and you will find a host of information. Even a copy of the instruction manual. |
