3 Attachment(s)
I came across this white fw at an estate sale about 3 weeks ago! Will need to take it for service & all, hence my fabric sale to help pay for it beside not being able to use fabric, etc.
What do you think? Dare to take a guess at the purchase price? It has the attachment with it too.
Whoo-Hoo !

needs cleaning up

kriscraft99 11-21-2010 10:26 AM

oh pretty! am I going to be green with envy over the price? if you'll let me know the numbers stamped on the bottom - I can give you a born on date :)

feline fanatic 11-21-2010 10:28 AM

She's a beaut! I am thinking you have been looking for one of these for a long time, given the title of your post. I am terrible at guessing prices but if you really, really wanted it and could afford to get her, I would have to guess you feel you paid a fair price for it. I know the white ones are very rare and hard to find. I have seen them for around $300, which seems to be the going rate for FW but that is the black ones. I did see one on Craigslist recently, a white one, for I think they wanted $275. Did you get it for a steal at the estate sale?

nwm50 11-21-2010 10:39 AM

Ok...i'll bite....never was good at holding surprises!
Do I hear drums rolling?????????
I talked her down to..............$30.00
I was SO out of breath ....MIL had like 3 in cabinet (singers) & 3 other portable all singers but one was a strange one that i can't think of the name. It was sitting all it lonesome self shoved under a tablecloth table full of christmas figures and i bumped it with my foot and look under the table....kinda dark but when i saw it was green/white box...I KNEW IT was the FW & closed my eyes & said Lord, let it be a FW pls, u know how long i have been looking for one??? She didn't even know what it was..wanted to know why i wanted this one among all the other better ones..so i told her and what it was worth but then again what it would cost me to service it , etc...she thanked me for being honest and ask if $30 okay? Ha, is it?? Happy Dance!!

nwm50 11-21-2010 10:40 AM

Kristcraft99....gonna give you the model # in a sec....

nwm50 11-21-2010 10:49 AM

i have beeing seeing the ones on ebay for 300 and on up! The tan coloring ones are more even. Have tried it out and runs good but wanted to service/lube before i get agoing on this and can't stop sewing! hehehehe

nwm50 11-21-2010 11:17 AM

Hi..Kriscraft99 did me a favor and looked up the info for it....early 1963 to middle 1964. In 1965 it costed $149.50...isn't this interesting?

nwm50 11-21-2010 11:18 AM

I go To The Sea To Breathe 11-21-2010 11:36 AM

I have never seen a white FW before. I really like it.

nwm50 11-21-2010 11:39 AM

cherrybsixty 11-21-2010 11:46 AM

The bottonholer alone can cost 30.00 in the wrong place. GOD bless you and white one at that, have fun. Lucky lady!!!

They come in black, white, tan and GREEN. I would just love to have one. Priced a black one a year ago at my local repair shop and they wanted $425. for one in the original case, with attachment and manual. (no buttonholer with it.)

Jazzmyn 11-21-2010 11:58 AM

You can go to www.singer-featherweight.com on this site there is a LOT of info on the featherweights....how to date them and how to determine the condition.....etc. There are also FW for sale and he has one like yours for 625.00 it is rated a 9 in condition. It is a very informative site about FW. On this site you can see what the different feet are for.....and he has some for sale also

Several years ago....probably 10+ I went to an estate sale and got a FW for 25.00 it is black and the anniversary issue worth around 500.00. I haven't used it in a long time and had it up for sale for a long time but have decided to keep it since I started quilting.

Your machine is Great. Check out the site and you can find out the history of the FW and a lot more.

2 Doods 11-21-2010 12:12 PM

It was meant just for you! Enjoy! They are sweet machines!

nwm50 11-21-2010 12:13 PM

thanks Jazzmyn for those info...will look them up. Post deleted the one on the Main as i didn't know that u can't have duplicate posting so this one will stay. Thanks again everybody for your help/comments.

n2scraplvr 11-21-2010 12:20 PM

WTG, nwm!! What a steal this is!!! Never knew they had FW's in tan!! OMG, this sure beats the machine you told me about!!! It sure beats mine too!! haha. Lucky, lucky lady you are!!!! Enjoy it to the max!!! :D :D :D

Lacelady 11-21-2010 02:35 PM

Congratulations on your new purchase ( cheaper than I paid for mine earlier this year but I got mine cheaper than average on ebay because it was a 220v motor, ideal for me as I live in Ireland, and that's what we need). The tan ones are fairly pale tan, and according to the book I have, a green one is a myth - none has ever been found, but the author thought perhaps it was because the white ones sometimes have a pale green tinge to them (sometimes called celery).

The foot you pictured lookd to me like a zipper foot, but if it is, I doubt if it is for this machine, because the needle on this doesn't move from side to side. If you put it on the machine and wind the needle down by hand VERY GENTLY, you are likely to see that the needle is heading down to break on the foot.

Stitchnripper 11-21-2010 02:40 PM

What a fabulous find! I've been going to as many garage/estate sales as I can looking for one and found one in a flea market/antique mall for $190, talked him down to $150, and thrilled with it. had it serviced and it is just so much fun. One day I will come across another one just like you did!! (I hope)

quiltsRfun 11-21-2010 02:45 PM

Nice find! That's just what I've been looking for. You got a real bargain for $30.

kwhite 11-21-2010 02:52 PM

Great job. Congrats. I am glad you told her what it was worth though. I hate to see people taken advantage of by people more knowledgeable.

Mariposa 11-21-2010 03:02 PM

Congrats on your new beauty! What's her name??

it is a button holer they work real neat you put what size cam you want in and it goes clik-clik all the way around. had one gave it way it fit an old universal hand crank and old singer also a white.

maryb119 11-21-2010 03:26 PM

Lucky you!!!

nwm50 11-21-2010 04:30 PM

Im learning more and more from you guys! The zipper foot info ...will check but it makes sense that it can't be used on FW for that idea of back & forth notion. This lady had machines everywhere in the house, or so it looked like it!
NAME??? Hmmm, have to think about that one. How about you guys giving me a hint and whoever i picks get some FQ"s ? Is that a go??

hperttula123 11-21-2010 04:36 PM

what a good deal.
