The quilt top is made from my scraps plus a jelly-roll and a few fat quarters. It was fun to make. It measures 80X64. I really like the neutral gray back with the colorful top.

This is sweet!! I hope your Mom uses it too. I'm at an age where "saving" is not what I want to do. I want to enjoy the gifts people give to me. Is this a flip and stitch pattern? And is it sewed onto a base...like used dryer sheets or anything else? Thanks for sharing.

It is a flip and stitch, blocks are sewn on a base. I used thin writing paper. I hear phone book paper works good. Here is the tutorial I followed. It easy and fun: http://www.filminthefridge.com/2009/...pieced-method/

this is a completed quilt made with this method. http://www.filminthefridge.com/2010/...ilt-completed/ (i was going for this look)

I like the idea of putting fabric like the top on the lining.

I love it,but let me ask, how does a quilter have that many scraps after only 2 quilts. I also like the back, it is all very bright, cheery and divine...

I must have miss calculated and had too much fabric from the first 2.. And I did add a jellyroll, a few fat quarters, the white and the backing. I've been buying fabric on sale that I like too.

What a nice job and she'll surely enjoy using it. Good way to use up scraps and having that grey running though it makes the design really stand out.

beautiful work. Just tell her she has to use it because that is what you made it for.

You have done wonderfully!
I would absolutely wrap up in that quilt and enjoy all the colors and sensory textures you have included.
It is beautiful to look at, interesting to ponder, and very inviting for cuddling.
Tell your mom that quilts are like fine china ... the more you use them, the better they get and the better for them! <wave>
