oh it's gorgeous hon. great work!

feline fanatic 10-19-2010 05:56 AM

That turned out great. Why do you say it will be your last? Did you not like the method or are you not pleased with the result?

I've never tried it. I just have too many other peicing designs I want to do before this. However I adore the OBW hollow cubes and do want to try those.

wvdek 10-19-2010 05:56 AM

I understand, but it sure is pretty. I like the color variations in it.

PurpleBecca 10-19-2010 05:57 AM

I sooo love this!

Its a great colour combination - well done.

A OBW is creeping nearer the top of my priority list!!!

You are inspiring me!!

Thank you ! AND Nice work!!

DebraK 10-19-2010 05:58 AM

QuiltforPD 10-19-2010 06:01 AM

I am going to start one of these soon. I love your colors! It turned out very nice. What did the origional fabric look like? I do really like yours a lot! How did you quilt it?

charismah 10-19-2010 06:02 AM

Not sure - but looks like the outer border might be the original fabric???

I was going to ask the same question!!

It is also known as "Stack n Whack". Maybe you might know by that name? There might be subtle differences in how the two are assebled but they are both the same basic principle of finding your pattern repeat and cutting based on the repeat. Cute buns did a great tutorial on it. Here is a link http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-35685-1.htm
If you use the search function on OBW you will get loads of hits.

Grama Lehr 10-19-2010 06:51 AM

It's beautiful!! The colors are awesome! I like the way it seem to flow off the quilt!!

Annaquilts 10-19-2010 07:05 AM

Gorgeous but I know the feeling. I have a UFO one block wonder. All the blocks are done I just need to lay it out and sew them together but it is just not happening. You inspire me though. I plan to never make another one again either.

Susy 10-19-2010 07:23 AM

It is absolutely beautiful! Never say never, I said that and I am struggling thru my second one!

Mariposa 10-19-2010 07:34 AM

Very pretty!!

Mary M 10-19-2010 07:34 AM

Your OBW is awesome. Love the way you chose to place the blocks. I want to make one of these also but it sounds like it could be tough. I already bought the fabric just need to figure out how to cut it!

ccb2200 10-19-2010 07:36 AM

That is very pretty.

Linda B 10-19-2010 09:23 AM

That is a wonderful quilt, but why would you say this is your first and last? It turned out great.

franie 10-19-2010 09:25 AM

Pretty but would drive me insane...

I am still learning, and we did it at a quilt class, it gave me some headaches! Had help, and some points isn't perfectly matched, but I did ok, on sewing the strips after the hexagons were done! I consider myself a Stage 2 beginner! Thanks for the comments!!

SueDor 10-19-2010 10:57 AM

Very nice!

The orginal fabric is the border, and I chose the material at Joann's, but had I known--the fabric is called Kalidescope! They tell you to get ugly piece, and has to have a 22-24 inch repeat! That was all I found! I do like bright colors! Thanks!

Yarn or Fabric 10-19-2010 10:59 AM

I would not dismiss that pattern so quickly - your finished top is really striking. I think you have a knack!

Jim's Gem 10-19-2010 11:18 AM

Very pretty!

amma 10-19-2010 09:21 PM

Say it isn't so!!! :(
You did such a beautiful job on this one, I would love to see another one in your future :D:D:D

Iluv2quilt 10-19-2010 10:23 PM

Gorgeous! Good for you, these aren't the simplest of quilts. I'm still working on mine.

earthwalker 10-19-2010 10:25 PM

I think you have done a beautiful job with this...you've obviously got the knack for putting it together....bit of a shame not to do a couple more......

kd124 10-20-2010 12:36 AM

Gorgeous. I love these quilts. I prefer the one block method to the Bethany Renyolds methiod of stack and whack, The hardest part to me is deciding the layout of the blocks.Going to have to start another

deebee 10-20-2010 02:45 AM

You did a beautiful job. The colors are really nice, too. I've had the book for about two years and I'm still scared to try it!

k3n 10-20-2010 02:56 AM

Beautiful, I love the colours.

Bobbin along 10-22-2010 10:42 AM

Oh how beautiful! I am wondering why you don't plan to do any more--because you certainly did a BEAUTIFUL job on this one!

Bobbin along 10-22-2010 10:51 AM

I did a OBW and just randomly put the little blocks onto the design wall (Hanging flannel-backed tablecloth) and it just became a little game of moving pieces around...and around....and around, until I lIked what I had! I also had an "AHA" moment, when I realized that just because I had a block didn't mean I had to use it! Some were just plain bore-ing, but later they ended up in other projects. Anyway, even DH got into the act by moving blocks around from time to time, and it was just fun. I hope you do more, because the one you made is really nice!

smtp5 10-22-2010 11:57 AM
