Finished the 3 quilt tops

1 Attachment(s)
A customer asked me to mke 3 quilts, as much alike as I could, for her 3 grandsons for Christmas. She liked this pattern but wanted it throw size, so I had o resize everything down to 59%, as the pattern was queen size. I still have to quilt and bind them, but I thought they came out cute. My delima now is the quilting pattern and what color thread????? Any thoughs from this fantastic QB?

Drue 05-24-2012 11:03 AM

I forgot to add that the pattern is "All Through th Woods" by C. Derksen and M. Harder.

OKLAHOMA PEACH 05-24-2012 11:13 AM

They are great, I have the pattern in stash for the future. I would bind them in 3 different colors, so they would be individualized but other than that u r on you own, but please show when you finish. Love them.

It's a wonderful quilt and your more homespun fabrics are great in it.

Jo M 05-24-2012 04:16 PM

Boy, that sure is cute!!! Nice job.

crafty pat 05-24-2012 04:24 PM

You have done a wonderful job, they are so cute. I love them.

Launie 05-24-2012 04:31 PM

Great job! As far as quilting, I am picturing these boys as being still rather young? Say 10yrs or so? If that is the case, I think I would go for an all over stipple in and around all the applique bits. As far as thread goes, what about a variegated in the same tones as the top?

ScrapQuilter 05-24-2012 04:32 PM

I am sure they loved the quilts....what boy would not love this quilt............

Sewfine 05-24-2012 04:33 PM

It is beautiful, maybe some type of leaf or feather design.

Chris Anders 05-24-2012 04:34 PM

You did a good job. So cute! Bet it would look good if you outlined it. I agree I would put different color binding 's. Love it.

Yes, I think that's the way to go. I, too, can't wait to see them all done, too.

sylviak 05-24-2012 06:48 PM

I would go with varigated thread and heavy quilting (because they will be washed a lot). I would also put the binding on by machine. You can stipple, or go around the applique, or use loop-de-loops, etc. The quilts are so cute! The kids will love them!

lollygagging 05-24-2012 08:52 PM

I agree that a different binding for each would work as well as an all-over stipple (avoiding the applique). Great holiday quilts. Thanks for sharing. Let us see them once they're bound.

I made this quilt in king size. It is a wonderful pattern, with so many manly things; it will grow with the boys.

The grandmother only wanted throw sized quilts, so I had to refigure everything and downsized it all to about 59%. The pattern was a queen size quilt. Glad I have a printer/scanner that will resize all the applique' patterns, and of course refigure ALL the blocks as well.

jojosnana 05-25-2012 12:42 PM

Really nice. I would outline the moose's horns and the beaver's tail with black. Now the quilting choice is up to you. Whatever you do will be wonderful.

Krystyna 05-26-2012 03:32 AM

What a remarkable quilt top! Can't wait to see it with the quilting. It's fabulous.

Cindy60545 05-26-2012 04:35 AM

I agree with some of the others, outline the applique & just do a stipple for the rest, bind in 3 difference colors for a little differences.

anniesews 05-26-2012 04:36 AM

A lot of work but a super job. Lucky boys.

helenquilt 05-26-2012 04:49 AM

ItsJustMe 05-27-2012 12:27 PM

What a nice quilt - especially for boys. Love the colors.

joyce888 05-27-2012 05:24 PM

You've probably already got plenty of suggestions but I'll go ahead and add my two cents. Watery ripples on the bottom; grass blades in the center; and clouds at the top. Very very cute quilt, great job.

mighty 05-28-2012 07:21 AM
